Wonderful horseback riding
Sep 2021 • Friends
This was a great family-run operation well off the beaten path. The owner and his family were friendly and fun to be around. Small operation but the horses were well loved and taken care of. The trails go through the wooded areas and hills so it is scenic. Fair prices for riding and they provide helmets for anyone under 18. We can’t wait to go back.

Great people and horses
May 2021
Loved our experience horseback riding at Gold City! The people working there (who are volunteers so bring cash to tip) couldn't have been nicer, and happily answered all of our questions about the horses. The trails were very nice, and the horses were all well-behaved. Would definitely return if we are in the area in the future. Trip advisor only gives the option of choosing family with teens or young children in the required 'who was with you' comment section. We were a family which included our grown children, and they all had a great time.

A big disappointment
Aug 2020
Having had two previous positive experiences at Gold City Corral with two grandsons, we decided to return with those two and a younger brother. We were told to arrive at 12:00 for a 12:30 ride. We were present at 12:00 and signed in and completed forms. The horses were saddled and in the corral and it looked as though all was set to go. Was I ever wrong!

We sat around in the hot sun while the owner and two assistants sat in the fan cooled office. There were several other riders and nobody knew why we were waiting. It seemed as though the Gold City people didn't care at all about the customers. Finally, someone came out and very slowly started to get the horses ready. By the time everyone was on a horse and the ride began, we had waited 1 hour and 15 minutes.

To make matters worse, the scheduled one-hour ride lasted only 45 minutes. In the past, we had enthusiastic guides and fairly efficient service. We experienced none of that. A total waste of money and I can assure you that we will never again go through the Gold City experience.

As an aside, we did enjoy our other involvements at Forrest Rest Resort. Very friendly and helpful. You'll love it there. Just stay away from the stables!

Best Ride Ever!!!

Best ride ever!!!

On the trail we encountered deer - a doe and her two fawns! Amazing! on the "Moonshine" Trail, there are old stills from prohibition that make for a great story!

The scenery and greenery were stunning! Thanks to David, Gary, Tommy!
Don't just stop at the horseback riding! Book a cabin of your own with a hot tub inside!!

My go-to vacation spot!!!

What a great one hour horseback ride. There were some laughs we had about eight riders. Our tour guide was amazing the day was beautiful the weather was great I am sure glad we didn’t change our mind because of the virus that we came on this trip we had a lovely weekend in your resort.

Great way to see the countryside

We scheduled a 1-hour trail ride three days before our visit to Dahlonega. I have riding experience; my friend does not. We really enjoyed our guide, Tommy, and seeing all the different horses. They were busy so I would definitely recommend calling / emailing ahead to book your ride!

Kind people and horses
Aug 2019 • Family
My 10 year old and I went on the hour ride while my older daughter and husband decided to hang out at our lodge. The owners and guides were all extremely friendly and even mentioned they give free birthday rides for kids. Our guide Timmy was really sweet and we enjoyed talking about his art work. The horses were gentle and we saw a Doe and her baby which was extra special. I highly recommend this stable.

Great day!

We had been looking forward to riding horses and Gold City Corral did not disappoint! We arrived about 40 minutes early and were able to look around. When it came time to fill out our paperwork & pay, the gentleman in the office asked if we had a Groupon. I said no, and he encouraged us to buy one, it saved us about $40 and they provided a sack lunch when the ride was over. The trails we took were challenging enough without being difficult. When we got back to the stables, David, the owner, took my husband and I back to find his glasses that he had dropped during the ride. We will definitely be back!!

To us it's not just about the money but to be able to see the smiles on peoples faces when they have experienced something fun and new. I was glad that I was able to help find your glasses, and that turned into a fun little hike in the woods as well. I hope that you have a great Christmas and may God bless you and your family. David
