wanted to take granddaughter somewhere besides movies and decided to go to Dahlonega to pan for gemstones and do the mine tour. The panning for stones was very exciting for my 5 year old granddaughter because at this age they are into this. Got beautiful stones and was very happy. The mine tour was fun too, friendly, and easy. Everyone... More

The tour of the mine was slice of Georgia history that our tour guide made very interesting. The tools left behind and his descriptions helped you to imagine the miners working there. Yes, you are going into a real mine, so plan accordingly and definitely bring a camera.

Great for families, but not below toddler age; cool and damp mine tour is great if you're sure-footed. Panning for gold was entertaining. A bit costly w/the add-ons.

We visited with our 4 & 7 year olds and they had a good time! We purchased the $15 bucket and found lots cool gems! This was a neat experience to share with my kids, especially since I did the same thing when I was their age! They have a cool store too with lots of interesting items!

The Consolidated Mine in Dahlonega, Ga. is a must go to place. Once a real operating mine blasting gold ore out of the mountain, is now more of an educational operation. Take the tour down into the mine and see how men worked back in the 1800s and into the 1900s. It was some really tough work and men didn’t... More

We loved this place. We come from California and thought the only gold rush was there. But turns out it was also here. Our guide was funny. He helped us learn all about the gold mine. He was very funny about the "brown bat" The gold mining was okay. We loved it!

I took my 10 year old grandson about a year ago. Mine tour was great. Digging for gems great also. He is very proud of all the gems he found in the paid buckets of sand and gems. My only caution is to beware their sales tactic of having a "miner" review your find. I believe they use that to... More

Dahlonega is all about the gold. This tour goes underground along some of the former horizontal mine shafts. Miner Baxter was knowledgeable and witty, great with the kids in the group. Been on mine tours before, but there's always something new to learn, and this proved to be the case here. Price included a few minutes of panning at the... More

My boyfriend and I had a good time at the gold mine. Included in the tour price was the option to pan for gold, which was silly fun. The tour itself was was very informative and it was great to hear the history of the area that I never even knew about. I will say that our guide was friendly... More
