About
Located in the heart of historic uptown Columbus, RiverCenter for the Performing Arts is the centerpiece of the city’s new arts and entertainment district. Conceived as a vital cultural hub, the center was designed by the multi-national architectural firm Hardy Holzman Pfeiffer and Associates to artistically enrich the Chattahoochee Valley region. RiverCenter’s state-of-the-art facilities include the 2,000-seat Bill Heard Theatre, the center’s main venue and home to the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. Featuring orchestra, mezzanine and balcony seating, the hall is designed to meet the complex technical needs of attractions such as Broadway shows, symphonic concerts, dance performances, pop concerts, lectures and conferences. From the ceiling large interwoven ribbons of steel mesh contribute a sense of intimacy, while shaped balcony fascias and custom light fixtures provide color, texture and warmth.

Music city Hit-makers come to Columbus
Feb 2020
I went to see Music City Hit-makers (Think Bluebird Cafe in Nashville) at The River Center. It was easy to find, free on street parking and close to several notable restaurants. I was warmly greeted by the ushers. Seats were very comfortable. Accoustics were great. It felt very intimate although it is not really a small venue. Great show! Would highly recommend checking out a performance at this venue

Beautiful, the Carole King musical was . . .beautiful!
Dec 2019
Outstanding talent and top-notch staging brought Carole King's music to life in this well presented musical. With a small live band, the performers in this traveling show gave King's music the enthusiasm and energy it deserved. The downside, and it was relatively minor, was over amplification of instruments and voices to the point of reverberation throughout the theater. Many well-performed numbers almost came across as lip-synced recordings because of the sound engineering and diluted some of the "live" performance feel. Still great performers delivered a great show about a magnificent writer. We were fortunate to be in the audience.

Beautiful facility
Apr 2019
This is a great treasure for Columbus, Ga. Beautifully done inside and out. Wonderful acoustics in both the large and smaller auditoriums. Also has smaller areas for talks or other functions. We have had the pleasure of attending a number of events played by the Columbus Symphony Orchestra.

Wonderful venue

My first experience here was attending a Nitty Gritty Dirt Band concert with my wife. The staff and volunteers are first rate, helpful and friendly. The venue is beautiful and the acoustics were perfect. I recommend it for any of the productions throughout the year.

Avisit to see The United States Navy Band.
Aug 2018 • Couples
I went to see The United States Navy Band. I was in AW at this facility. The lobby is spacious, well lit and layed out to offer a lot of wall area for exhibits. The rest rooms off of the lobby are large, well lit and clean. When I entered the auditorium, the first thing I noticed was there is not a bad seat in the house. As the show started it became obvious that the sound system was as good as the seating and lighting.

RiverCenter for the Performing Arts Columbus' Gem
Feb 2018 • Business
This beautiful performance Center is a beautiful gem - a real treasure to Columbus and the downtown area. It's well kept and the seats are comfortable. How wonderful to allow the talented theatre students across the state of GA the opportunity to use it at their state conference. It's an impressive venue. I especially enjoyed the display of student visual art works.
