Well worth it!
Aug 2021
First time in Columbus and just checking out different places, we came across this museum and was impressed. The lady at the front desk was very professional, knowledgeable and helpful. Exhibits started off in a very early time frame of the area and went all the way up to the present. We enjoyed the entire thing.

Visit ruined by needless badgering by guards over masks
May 2021 • Couples
Museum is so-so. Visit was tainted by badgering by 3 different guards regarding masks. When we encountered other visitors (very few) we raised our masks, otherwise we had our noses uncovered. This is located in Columbus, GA. There is no statewide mask mandate. The museum put their own in place because, believe it or not, they are owned by the school board!! It will be a long time before we go back as we were not welcomed.

Great for quiet meandering
Jul 2020
This is a greata free to visit place to see art, Georgia history, and just enjoy some quiet meandering. We have seen exhibits from pagent dresses, to fine art, and the history section walks you through a timeline of Georgia.

If it had more than five stars I would sure check that option.

Local history & art
Feb 2020 • Family
We had a nice visit with our two kids. The section on local history was very interesting and there were a few things I haven't seen before. The art section was also very good. It was a nice collection and it was great for the kids to see the canvases up close. They enjoyed the kid section downstairs, especially the animation station. That alone would have been worth the visit. There was a performance artist there as well. I found it interesting, the kids didn't love it but it was a good experience for them. This museum does not charge admission. Make sure you bring a little cash for a donation.

Unique Museum

I enjoyed my visit to this museum that combines Georgia history and a fine collection of art in one building. Tastefully done with beautiful standing history displays. An eclectic mix of art from family portraits to curious collections. Worth the stop at this free attraction.

Great museum with excellent info
Sep 2019
I've been to Columbus many times, but have never visited this wonderful museum. First, staff was extremely helpful and friendly (actually, all of Columbus is friendly). I was with some family members and we decided to go slow and see everything available. Beautiful items and very nicely displayed. Highly recommend.

For Art Enthusiasts it’s definitely worth the trip!!!

Surprising array of both traditional & modern art. The museum had several levels to enjoy the local as well as international culture. Takes several hours to go through. Great space for showcasing the local talent over the years with sculpture & pottery as well. The Miss Georgia pageant exhibit on the top level showcased all the gowns that the contestants have worn over the years. Photos prohibited in that area. We passed on that. Free admission but takes donations.

Needed to kill some time and this was great. No admission fee but we did make a donation at the end. We checked out the local history section and the contemporary gallery. Really enjoyed our time there.

Great Columbus history - an amazing Chihuly Sculpture
Jun 2019 • Friends
I had seen the Chihuly glass creation in the tourist book - never realizing its size and color! Amazing!! Add that to the walk thru the story of Columbus (and the accompanying video) made for a very enjoyable visit to a wonderful museum of art and history.
