The hike up to the falls is on a very well traveled trail, and as you get near the falls, all of a sudden you see several white habitation pods you would expect to see on Mars or the moon. Unfortunately, a developer has placed several bright white plastic looking Geodesic domes on the other side of the falls. It really takes away from the experience of being in the woods and seeing a natural waterfall. However, if you continue to hike up to the Benton McKay trail, you get back into wilderness.

3/14/20; I took some friends on the hike to the falls. Last year I went straight up where there is a sign now giving location, directions and the normal information. This time we went to the left and I kept noticing new timbers and 6"x 6" seats along the way and thinking something was different. We viewed the falls and then on the way down I saw the original path with trees across it many places, so we took it an navigated around fallen trees, and it was not a big deal. It is an easy hike and great for families with children. It is also part of the Benton McKay trail.

I've been to these falls a few times in the past and they are always nice and a pretty easy hike to get to, but be aware they there are a bunch of "glamping" yurts butted right up to the falls now with No Trespassing signs now on the far side of the Fall Branch river. They also cut down a bunch of the trees and paved parts of the hill on the far side of the river to make room for the yurts. I still enjoyed the falls and the we hiked some more of the Benton Mackaye trail, just trying to lesson the shock for other people if you haven't been there in a while.

A nice hike up to the waterfall. Once up to the waterfall you can cool off in the pools by the waterfall. If you want a further hike, you can follow the trail further for a longer hike. The trail is shaded. We came in south of the trail and was on a narrow gravel road for 5 miles. This hike can be accessed also from Asia road from Blue Ridge. Parking was limited. There is also a small creek For little kids to wade in next to parking area. The water is clear and clean. 4 starts, would recommend better markings for further hike. We would have liked to extend our hike, but was not sure where the trail led,

We took a different hike up than back down, but both were short & fairly easy. It was a little wet, so you had to be careful not to slip on the trail. Part of the group also hiked to the top of the waterfall which was more challenging and steep. A great day being outside!

This is a shorter hike than many of the other area trails, but it is also moderately steep and all uphill on the way to the falls. We enjoyed following a trail up to the top of the falls and wading in the water there (this trail is a bit steeper with more roots and such). We visited on a Sunday morning, and the trail was not that busy, so we were able to spend plenty of time taking pictures by ourselves from both the bottom and top of the falls, however, it was definitely becoming busier as we were leaving. For a longer hike, It is possible to continue on the Benton Mackaye trail from this one. Parking was along the gravel road at the trail head.

The trail is very easy to do. It’s a trail that young kids can do and the waterfall is small and easy to walk in. It takes about 30 minutes to get to the falls and there are places to stop and sit if you need to.

Don’t know how these reviews are of any assistance. We drove on to a narrow dirt road with tons of cars parked on the side of the narrow road. No signs and people coming down a very steep side trail. We kept driving because there was no parking and it took us to no where on the other side of the mountain.

Short hike to the waterfall but the trail to the left from the parking lot had quite the uphill climb. Our 9 year old was able to do it no problem. The waterfall is smaller than other local ones but just as pretty. There is a viewing deck to take pictures. On the way back down, we took the path to the left and it wraps around back to the parking lot on more even ground.

Was a beautiful trail / falls but view has been ruined by 7 “glamping” yurts, all done right next to the falls. Hard to believe this was allowed. Sadly, many trees and foliage were removed to allow for the unsightly, bright white yurts. Unfortunately not the same natural and peaceful experience it once was. I can only imagine what it will be like when they are fully booked.
