A really great experience. My wife and I are Sustainers in the Georgia O'Keeffe museum in Santa Fe. This is one of the best displays of western art that we have seen. It has many large bronzes that are breath taking. A lot of times I do a man-look and ignore things that I don't care for, but we spent over 3 hours going through over 120,000 sq ft of museum.

This was the main reason that I visited area and was not disappointed. This is a great museum for western art and is set up in several sections. It is self guided and has elevators if needed instead of stairs. I will probably re-visit again in the future. I would recommend to anyone to has interest in western art or just wanting to learn some history. Staff is very friendly and has guides on floors if you have questions, very enjoyable

We have never visited the Booth Museum. It is very large. The permanent collection covers all kinds of western and Civil War art. I recommend the museum highlights tour offered at 1:30. Docent Beth was great! For almost two hours she showed us the museum along with relating a lot of US history portrayed in the art. The museum also has wonderful temporary exhibits. A lot to see in one visit. We will be back! Thanks Beth for a great introduction.

If you like the old west and the history associated with the expansion of the United States you'll love this museum. Though I'm not an art expert - I found the paintings and statues very enjoyable to look at and the history was very well presented. This is a pretty large facility. Once I left I noticed on the brochure that I missed out on a lot of the exhibits. I definitely will be returning.

What an awesome way to spend a liesurly Saturday. For starters, there are many sculptures on display outside the building, so take a stroll around the building before entering. The building inside is beautiful and fully equiped with bathrooms, gift shop, restaurant, and a large elevator for those unable to use stairs. Most of the art is on constant display but a very large area has art that changes monthly I believe. We visited when Presidental artwork was on display. Be sure to watch the introductory movie which provides insight to the museum. I was amazed at how many sculptures and art pieces were on diplay. There seemed to be no end to the rooms and displays. If I could give this museum more than 5 stars I would.

This review is in reference to a field trip for my 3rd grader. When I say it was the WORST “field trip” I’ve ever attended, I mean it! AWFUL! I never got to spend time with my child, take pictures, or anything like that. Our “tour guide” wouldn’t let the children speak, they had to walk “in a straight line” the entire time, we never got to look at anything inside the different art rooms, we only went to different stations in the hallways, sat for 20 minutes at each station, & listened to our guide read a book. The art itself is beautiful, but they should not offer this institute as a “children’s field trip” facility, because they do not allow them to act like children. I was miserable, I could only image how the children felt.

Simply the best art museum in all of Georgia. We generally go for the special exhibits and we were not disappointed. The AZ paintings, etc were exceptional with the depth of colors and themes. The other was a 3 generation exhibit of woodworkers who live(d) right here in Atlanta GA and have their own gallery. This was special as the woods used are generally only found in our Western States. And these turned pieces are a marvel. They shine like glass and the choosing of woods for grains and colors was precious.

This is a top notch art museum that should be on every art lover's list as they travel in the Southeast. The building itself is wonderful modern one with lots of glass and light. Located next to the small historic main street with shops and eateries still open for business. The artists represented in the collection range from all historical Western artists like Remington, Russell, Couse to the Taos artists to modern Santa Fe greats.
The pleasant cafe is open during the week.

I'd heard people recommend this museum for years but didn't think I'd find it interesting. I'm so glad we finally visited and we spent over three hours here! There's so much to take in and the art is phenomenal. One of my favorite pieces was a sculpture made completely out of paper by Patty and Allen Eckman. We also saw a special exhibit on metals, photographs of female ranchers, and a juried show from local artists. The bistro on the main floor offers sandwiches for reasonable prices. Museum admission also includes free tours of the sculpture garden and a highlights tour of the museum. The staff was very friendly throughout the museum.

Friends told me for years that I needed to go to the Booth (I live in Atlanta, 45 minutes away), that it was really outstanding, and that I would thoroughly enjoy the experience even though I wasn’t an art aficionado by any stretch of the imagination. Turns out, they were understating how great it was. The building itself is extraordinary, and the outdoor sculpture alone is worth the trip. The tour guide was excellent, and I found it a wonderful experience overall. I can see why the Booth is generally rated so high among all museums in the US. I plan to go back from time to time, not just to see temporary exhibitions, but to enjoy the permanent collection as well.
If I could change anything, I would like to see more art concentrating on the animals of the West.

One of the big draws for any outing for my daughter is getting to photograph things. She feels lost without her camera and doesn't last long. I know some museums you can not photograph in ,but I do not not if it is a general rule. Is she allowed to do still photography at Booth?

Yes, photography is allowed at Booth Western Art Museum with the exception of flash, mono-pods/tripods/selfie sticks. We hope your daughter is able to capture some great images while visiting the Booth!
