This popular park on Lake Allatoona is ideal for swimming, water skiing and fishing. Visitors can bring their own boats or rent from nearby marinas. A sand swimming beach is nestled in a cove and surrounded by trees, providing a great place to cool off during summer. Picnic shelters and group shelters may be rented for meetings, parties, reunions and other celebrations. Guests often stay overnight in rental cottages, a spacious campground or the park’s lakeside yurt. While best known for the 12,000-acre lake, Red Top Mountain is also a hiker’s haven. More than 15 miles of trails wind through the forested park, providing opportunities for exercise and nature photography. A short, paved trail behind the park office is suitable for wheelchairs and strollers, welcoming guests to explore a reconstructed 1860s homestead. The gravel-topped 4-mile Iron Hill Trail is open to both hikers and bikers, offering pretty views of the lake’s shoreline.Named for the soil’s rich red color caused by high iron-ore content, Red Top Mountain was once an important mining area. Iron pour programs are occasionally held near the Vaughn Cabin behind the park office.

This park is a COE facility and the corp should be more user friendly. Too many signs telling us what we can't do gives this and most corp facilities a "penal institution feel". But, the park is beautiful ! The WOW factor kicks in the minute you see the lake and mountains! Nestled along the banks of Lake Allatoona this... More

Wonderful trails, good fishing, very nice camping. This is a very nice park. You can boat/kayak on the lake, fish from the shore, walk the trails, picnic in the picnic locations or camp at the campground. The camp sites are really nice, many look over the lake. They are neat and clean and come with utilities for your RV if... More

They have rental cabins, pavilions, shelters, marinas, many picnic areas, boat launches, lots of gorgeous green space and tall trees and Lake Allatoona! A nice clean park that satisfies many needs. There is a welcome center with a fun little touch experience area the family can enjoy! The hotel is closed (budget issues) but the cabins and camping are affordable!

A great place to get away for the day or a weekend. They have cabins for rent, small beach area, covered picnic shelters, hinking trails and a marina. Nice place for most of the year here in Georgia.

Red Top is a great place to go camping, fishing and hiking. Lots of trails, beautiful country side hikes and plenty of fish to catch and eat if you're into that also.

After Dad passed away on Memorial Day of this year, the funeral was on June 20th, we stayed in the area a few more days, the wife advised that we should go to Red Top Mountain. It was a location that both of my parents liked, it helped the healing process, being in a very peaceful place with friend's and... More

We hiked the Homestead Trail which is 5.5 miles. A fair bit of the hike follows the shore line of Lake Allatoona. The woods and lake are beautiful and the hike is a nice distance. The trails at Red Top are not too challenging and could be done in running shoes, i.e. it is not strenuous hill walking or climbing but... I absolutely love going here. The lake and the whole area here is just beautiful. It is also a great place to go bird watching. It is a wonderful place to hike or relax or put the boat in to go for a cruise on the lake.
