This popular park on Lake Allatoona is ideal for swimming, water skiing and fishing. Visitors can bring their own boats or rent from nearby marinas. A sand swimming beach is nestled in a cove and surrounded by trees, providing a great place to cool off during summer. Picnic shelters and group shelters may be rented for meetings, parties, reunions and other celebrations. Guests often stay overnight in rental cottages, a spacious campground or the park’s lakeside yurt. While best known for the 12,000-acre lake, Red Top Mountain is also a hiker’s haven. More than 15 miles of trails wind through the forested park, providing opportunities for exercise and nature photography. A short, paved trail behind the park office is suitable for wheelchairs and strollers, welcoming guests to explore a reconstructed 1860s homestead. The gravel-topped 4-mile Iron Hill Trail is open to both hikers and bikers, offering pretty views of the lake’s shoreline.Named for the soil’s rich red color caused by high iron-ore content, Red Top Mountain was once an important mining area. Iron pour programs are occasionally held near the Vaughn Cabin behind the park office.

The fishing spots look wonderful, but I think to catch anything you might need a boat. The area is wonderful and very open, has beach area for the kids to swim and plenty of rental cabins if u want to stay. Also places to hold receptions(wedding, party's,etc)

Concrete jungle got you down, well just head north to the beautiful Red Top Mountains State Park. If you like to hike there are great trails, really nice cabins and a huge well kept campground. It gets crowded here on weekends so book ahead and come early if your planning to picnic on the water. This property is so well... More

My daughter and I have spent our summer vacations camping for the past 3 years and this campground blew us away! The campsites are immaculate, spacious, quiet and have spectacular views. Even the least expensive sites without water or electric are wonderful. The Rangers in the visitors center are the most friendly and helpful that we have ever encountered. Lake... More

Great camping sites that are very shady. The park is kept clean and the hosts are helpful and friendly. The showers are good with plenty of hot water and the bath houses are plentiful. We love camping here.

The cottage was small but provided a great place to rest. The kitchen helped on the food budget. There was a picnic table, grill and fire pit.

This is such a beautiful place. The campsites are pretty big, well site 47 was the one we were on. We had a spectacular view, right on the water.

This place is gorgeous! The water is pristine and just the right temperature (not too cold) for swimming ~ There are several different hiking trails to choose from. I chose the Iron Hill trail for today. Much of this trail is lakefront so when you get too hot you can easily find a spot to cool off (hiking in June... More
