About
The Carrollton GreenBelt is an 18-mile shared-use path designed for pedestrians and non-motorized users. The trail connects existing neighborhoods with the city school campus, the University of West Georgia, the city parks, and several commercial shopping areas. The Carrollton GreenBelt is the largest green-space and green-way conservation project that the City of Carrollton has undertaken. It is also the largest paved loop trail system in the state of Georgia.

First, this is a great 18 mile trail with minimal elevation change. There are numerous points to access the trail and I started from Carrollton HS. At this point I recommend that you start clock wise as there is construction in a few places and the trail has detours. This is where it becomes confusing. I ran both directions and was lost on the counter clock wise direction which I ran first. I ended up running 20 miles instead of 18 but as a runner, this just added to the excitement!
At times, there is absolutely no one on the trail.
I would highly recommend the trail add signage on their downtown spur to connect with the the Rome street access north of the town center.
Shaded trails and restrooms in a few locations.

Since I live here, I’m on the GreenBelt every week. This is a must do if you are in the area. Walking, biking, or running, you will be amazed at the incredible nature before your eyes. There is a bike share program, so really you have no excuse, but to ride! You will see couples, families, friends and solo bikers. It is one of the best paths in the South! Don’t miss this place

This is a good city trail, best for walking or running. The Greenbelt can be used for bicyclists, but you will need to go slow over 3-4 miles of the loop. If you are only walking part of the trail, go to the Hobbs Farm area. The trail feels safe and is regularly patrolled by police.
I use a road bike. The trail is a roughly 17 mile loop. On a bike, there are a couple of danger areas. Hobbs Farm is full of walkers, many with dogs. Near Southwire, you will cross multiple roads, sometimes going against traffic. On the West Georgia campus, there is a long twisty downhill with a stone fountain in the center of the trail at the bottom. There are a couple of chicanes, that can be tricky to navigate. The one near Bankhead Highway is tight. Finally, there are multiple long wooden bridges that are very slick after rains.
Carrollton is a bike friendly community, so most of us feel safe riding the roads. But for novices, the Greenbelt is a nice safe alternative.

This trail has a bike rental, but the cyclists who all want to look like a Tour de France pro--with 27 speed bikes, special spandex biking shorts and tops, and helmets designed for speed! Good grief. They WILL run you over! They don’t stop at signs where cars cross trail, and will hit you if you don’t move out of their way. Do NOT walk here. Go up to Little Tallapoosa State Park to walk or run instead.

Hey there,
So sorry to hear about your experience. It is frustrating when trail users do not respect the safety and comfort of others. If you ever feel like a biker is endangering other users, please call 911. We have a very responsive police department and bike patrol that monitors the trail. If you ever see anything out of place - please call the emergency services.
Thanks for your comment,

Fun! Great for strollers and kids with bikes. I've gone with just my kids and I've met up with other moms, either way, I feel safe and it's easy to navigate.

Nice trail, and wheelchair accessible. Quiet place in the city. It's of course not very remote, but certainly accessible.

The Carrollton GreenBelt is the best thing to happen to Carrollton in decades! It's a great place for families or an individual who wants a little time in nature. It's well maintained, shady and large enough that you aren't bumping into others on the trails!

Great place to walk, push strollers, or ride bikes with the family. Peaceful, mostly shaded. Remember to take a water bottle and sunscreen( depending on which part you walk). Take a picnic lunch and find a nice spot and enjoy. There are also places on the trail where you can rent bikes.

The Greenbelt is a fantastic addition to Carrollton. The scenery along the trails is beautiful. There are portions that flood during large rainstorms, but the city is very good about detouring pedestrians and quickly cleaning up the areas. The trails are great for children and adults. There is plenty to see and do along the way.
