First, the marina itself is awesome and the people who stay here are very nice.

However, the yard is not only incompetent, but seems to be run by people who don’t know how to manage the gross mistakes made through mismanagement and cheapness.

I had an invertor to install and was concerned enough to call for an electrician from the yard.

I had been told that yard was “where boats go to die” by a former boater. But the BLM facebook group seemed to suggest that they were trying to rebuild their reputation.

They sent a guy who was not an electrician who didn’t even survey the system before blowing up my invertor and electical system by shorting the panel out and almost causing a fire.

Okay, I figured they’d make it right until I get a call from the President of Torrea Properties explaining to me the fact that he wanted to “be fair” to the marina.

They finally replaced the invertor, but left residual electrical problems that they refuse to fix. This is because the ‘elextrician’ they swnt dismantled my panel while destroying it.

I have received NO paperwork at all: no bill of sale, work order or paper if any kind. they also sent NO digital communication. My AC amp meter no longer works.

The president said that I had agreed to take it out of their hands by requesting a real technician to fix it.

You know…they paid for the invertor because they had no choice, but just some common sense and kindness would have salvaged an embarrasing snafu. The president was more concerned that I not tell anybody than seeing to the resolution to a problem they inflicted.

Mr. Jablonski - your version of the situation neglects to mention that your boat was not wired correctly or to code to begin with. Had this not been the case, it is likely the inverter would never have been damaged to begin with and your ugly and exaggerated version never would have been posted here. Once the damage occurred, we paid Drew to rewire your boat to code and replace your inverter. We will take the high road on the rest of your comments about our president, me and our efforts but let’s just say there are clearly two versions of what actually was said and how you interpreted it. We regret your experiences and rest assured we will make sure Drew provides all the paperwork our president told you we would get to you once he understood what you were asking for. He was of the understanding from Drew before you made all these accusations that you were satisfied and had the documentation you needed as did I.

We had a terrible experience last Saturday. The woman in the office was very rude. We were looking to dock one of our boats... but after the visit. No!!! Perhaps, because I was a black woman - I didn't fit in there. This experience disappointed me all my time in Brunswick. I have never had such an experience while visiting other marinas. People of color BEWARE!!!

Always a great place to stay for more than one night. We skipped our plan to stay until the day after Christmas and extended. Being there for the second time and it was like coming home. A great community, lots to do and only a short walk to downtown. Free laundry, Happy Hours, a nice meeting area, but the best at all the nice people.

As a member of the Golden Isles community, I believe in supporting local businesses. If I have a problem, I try to resolve it directly, and not air my grievances in public, because I believe people in this community are generally set on doing the right thing, and more times than not they do make it right. As a financial adviser, this is not only my personal belief, but I am also bound by my profession to do the right thing and to “treat the customer fairly”. The fact that I am writing a negative review about Brunswick Landing Marina is not meant to disparage the employees there, who are just doing their jobs. But having tried to resolve this matter directly, and having received a disproportionately negative response in return, I am compelled to share my story, in the hope that this does not happen again to anyone else.

I took my Cape Dory 36 to Brunswick Landing based on the reviews and experience of friends, many of whom keep their boats there. I had her hauled out, surveyed and had the cutlass bearing replaced at the boatyard. The total bill was $1,800. We then put her back in the water and had her towed to a private dock (we were in the process of rebuilding the engine). While under tow, she took on water, as we discovered the packing gland nut was not tightened down. This was not a few drops of water, but enough to fill the bilge, and it nearly sank the boat. While scrambling to bail out the water, we called Brunswick Landing and they sent Wayne, the head mechanic. He drove out on a weekend and quickly tightened the packing gland nut. When asked why there was no attention paid to the packing gland when replacing the cutlass bearing, he simply responded that it was “not on the work order”. I was very surprised to then receive a bill for $225 for this work, including charges for overtime!

Now the boat was not leaking when I brought her to BLM, only after we left (within 2 hours) was there a problem. I asked Wayne if he felt in any way responsible, given that one would typically check and/or repack the packing gland and tighten the nut when replacing a cutlass bearing, especially as they were aware that she was towed and the engine was not operational. Not only did he refuse to accept any responsibility, but he then proceeded to blame me for “rushing” the repairs (we were trying to get her moved to the private dock ahead of a weather front, to finish the engine, and I had already paid for 7 lay days). I expect a mechanic to stand behind his work, and to think about other related issues that could arise as a result of the work he is doing. If I take my car to have the wheel changed, tightening the lug nuts is not on the work order. And if there are any other issues affecting the car’s safety that are discovered (or suspected) while the contracted repair is being done, I would expect to at least be notified and given the option to repair other things crucial to the car’s safety. I have this same expectation for work done at a marina and do not feel this is unreasonable.

I asked if there was anything unjust about sending me a $225 bill for tightening the packing gland nut (including overtime since it was a weekend!), and if it was worth that to lose a customer. His response: “pay the bill“. To add insult to injury, he actually told me to never come back there again!

I appreciate that Wayne came quickly and on a weekend, and he should be compensated for that. However, this issue should never have occurred in the first place, and I am appalled to have been treated this way after trying to resolve it directly with the marina. I am a good-natured person and was courteous in reaching out to BLM. Not only was this gesture unappreciated, but it was met with a reaction that I would never have expected from a reputable marina. I have honestly never been treated this way, in any capacity, by anyone. There is no chance that I will return to Brunswick Landing. Fortunately, there are other very good alternatives nearby, and I will be happy to give them my business in future.

You have a great operation furnishing in water storage, and aminites for live aboard cruisers. What is missing though is a real full service boatyard, where cruisers could drop their boat off with a to do list, and return four months later ready to cruise again.I realize that starting a full service yard is a great investment in personel and equipment, but there is another way.You could lease the whole area of dry storage to another already operator who has the personal and expertise to operate a full service boat yard. You may have to build a workshop and paint building to attract a qualified operator. If you woud do that, your wet storrage slips would be full with a wait list year round. I have been a customer in your wet slips on and off for ten years.

Good for a quiet stop over. But its not in the center of things and Brunswick is a worn out 20th century citythat never bounced back. The paper mills and other industries have polluted the waters and added a foul, acrid stink to the air coupled with one of the largest toxic waste site in the country. Decent facilities for short stay. well sheltered area.

We kept our DeFever trawler at BLM every summer from 2013 to 2018 (we have now sold it) while we returned to Canada, and spent many months living on board there during the winter months. Friendliest, most social, most community-minded marina we found along the ICW in Florida and Georgia...great parties, happy hours, free laundry, free beer 24/7, free wine at happy hours. If you don't want the social life, though, you can stay private and alone on your boat too. Community bikes and close to downtown amenities, theatre, art galleries, First Friday events. BBQs at every dock. Highly recommended.

Love the marina and the on site management team but its gotten too pricey to keep a boat at BLM. A business decision has been made to charge what the market will bear. All that free beer provided :-)can't make up for the higher fees. After years of keeping our sailboat at BLM, I am sorry to say, we have chose to make a personal decision and opted to shop around for more reasonable dockage pricing and are quite happy with our new found choice.

They like to think they are 5 star. But they are just 3 star trying to hide the location and theif issues behind free PBR and washing machines.

We stayed one season at Brunswick Landing and the experience was very positive. In addition to a very safe location, the marina staff creates a very well-run infrastructure. Moreover, they create an environment supporting a happy boater community. Perks included free laundry, a comfortable club house, nightly activities, free beer, WiFi, and even free bicycles. We enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend the marina.
