There are several mounds here, the largest and most impressive is some sort of temple, I think. The other mounds are, well, something you can miss if you're not looking for them. We camped with another couple and managed to snag the last camping spot....More
Kolomoki Mounds primary attraction is that of the archeological sites, the mounds, located in the park. We spent a couple hours visiting the museum and walking the grounds, finally being driven indoors by a steady rain and gusty winds.

We took the grandkids here last August . It had been two decades since we had seen Kolomoki and and were pleasantly surprised to see the improvements that had been made. The museum and tours were very interesting.
The visitor center staff was welcoming and informative. There is a short film before you view the site that gives lots of information about life at the mounds. Put your walking shoes on if you are going out to the mounds site to walk around....More

Sorry for reply delay. Used Sr. Discount for museum. Did not pay extra Park fee for boating, etc as did not do any of that. Did climb the large mound. It was much easier when I ran up when about 10 years old, but view still... More
