Beautiful park, great falls, spectacular location. We stayed in cottage 24. Listen up it’s right next to a busy road and the cottage was newly built and the road noise was definitely a issue. The cottages are super close together and our view overlooking the parking lot and visitors center was a buzzkill. Check in took forever and the staff seemed overwhelmed. We love Georgia state parks and this was Thanksgiving weekend so I’m sure that played a part in the staffing issue. The facility was clean and the park was well kept. We did enjoy the time we spent here but it’s not been our favorite but many of our friends love it. We did not see the camping areas tho. The hike to the waterfall is easy and the lake is beautiful. The cottage amenities where nice with fast WiFi. I will say bring your own soap and shampoo cause there was none of that provided which it should be in my opinion for the price. Upon check out we met the cleaning staff and thanked them and their is so much to do around the area we had a great time. Just wanted to give y’all a little bit of insight into the few things we noticed.

We reserved a two bedroom cabin for four nights and we were very pleased with our choice. While this park is known for camping in a tent or motor home or trailer, cabin camping is another option as there are more than 30 cabins of various sizes to choose from. Our cabin was very modern. It included a full kitchen with a full size refrigerator, an electric range, a microwave and several small appliances. There were comfortable beds, televisions, a dining table inside, one on the porch and a picnic table near the fire pit. There were also chairs included in that area. There are rocking chairs on the covered porch so when it rained we were protected.
As for activities, some people were on the lake in small boats or kayaks which I assume they brought themselves. Other activities at this time of year would be hiking and mini golf. There is a small gift shop at the visitor center. Or, weather permitting, just enjoy your time around a camp fire.

We chose this park for our anniversary get-away because of the boat rentals. Upon arriving we wanted to reserve one, but had to wait for the person in charge of the boats to arrive, so went for a short walk. By the time we got our ticket for the boats, a very large group was ahead of us and took all the available ones for that hour, so we decided to take a hike to the falls and do boats when we get back. To our great disappointment, everything was shut down for the day even though it was nowhere near closing time, and we were told he would not be back the next day either! Evidently they just close whenever the boat man feels like it, and theres no telling ahead of time! The redeeming factor for the day was the beautiful falls at the one end of the lake.

Last week I stayed at Hamburg State Park for one night. I was surprised that when I checked in I was ask if I was tent camping and age 62 or older. I was given a $10.37 rebate. One month ago I spent two nights at Vogel State Park and no one told me that i was entitled to a $10.37 rebate per night because of age and sleeping in a tent. I just got off the phone with Vogel State park and the refund has to be given when you check in. Like most of us I made my reservation on line. 😠

Easy trail. Our 19 month old hiked most of it. I'm pretty sure my 74 year old parents could have made it too. This falls is just behind the big lake inside vogel state park. We parked near the swimming/amphitheater area at Vogel state park as we were told that is the closest parking to the falls. It was a nice walk around the lake to get to the start of the trail. Once we got on the trail we felt like it was only 5 minutes and then we reached the falls. There are just a few stairs down to them then one big platform.

A Bucket list campground for us that delivered everything we could have hoped. The lake and campground sit at the base of Blood Mountain, and offer the perfect setting for camping. Our campsite ranks in our top 5 campsites we have ever had. The site we were on was in the loop designated for tents and smaller trailers, and I would definitely not try this with a larger unit, as there were some tight turns to navigate. We enjoyed many activities here including, the hike around the lake to the waterfall, two rounds of miniature golf, the playground, pedal boats, and even a concert at the lake pavilion while a storm rolled in over the mountains. This turned out to be the perfect first stop on a three campground vacation.

My wife & I took a day trip to Vogel on Wednesday. This is one of our favorite parks to visit. It was a beautiful day as we walked the natural terrain trail around the lake & also walked some on the Reece Farm Trail. The highlight was viewing the falls from Trahlyta Falls trail. We have visited Vogel many times & it never gets old. Already looking forward to our next trip. Located at the base of Blood mountain Vogel State Park offers lots of other amenities including:
*Fishing
*Paddle boats(seasonal)
*Beach area/Swimming(seasonal)
*Cottages
*Campground
*Miniature golf
*Visitor Center/General store
*Lake Pavilion
*Multiple Picnic tables

Loved this park. Not too far from Blairsville and a beautiful walk around the lake. It was sprinkling with rain on the day we went but didn't get wet because most of the hike around the lake is covered with trees. Well worth a walk to the waterfall. Pickup a map at the visitors center. Would definitely consider staying in one of the cabins in the future.

We were not camping at Vogel overnight. But our morning visit to trek the 1 mile path around beautiful Lake Trahyta, and the short off-shoot to the Falls, met our expectations beautifully. Taking in the beauty was just what we wanted.
Vogel State Park was largely developed in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps, and the Park has a very well furnished museum honoring the CCC. The exhibits really satisfied my interest in history, and the CCC period in particular. The Vogel staff person that showed us around the museum was a highlight of our vacation- she was so friendly, well informed, and enthusiastic.
Friendly... all the Vogel staff we met were exceptionally friendly. The Vogel Visitor Center was a showcase of Georgia hospitality. They really wanted us to feel welcome in this park.

Great state park with beautiful views and trails. Visited during fall which most activities on the lake are closed because of the season. Fall brings beautiful reflections of changing leaf colors on the lake. Nice short hikes are available with beautiful views. Noticed some nice cabins available for visitors. We will consider visiting again during the next autumn season.

How far is the trail to the waterfall?

It's about a mile, but the walk is very nice. Front the camp store area you walk about halfway around the lake, then down another path. It's an easy hike and a nice waterfall.
Are dogs allowed in the park

Yes, dogs are allowed on a leash.
If you not sure about taking your dogs to parks, etc. there’s another app called, ‘All Trails’ that tells you where the trails are and how difficult they are and also tells you if dogs are allowed. :)

Keep all food locked up as well as coolers at any bear locale. Do that and you have NO problems.
From campsite R, about how far away is parking? the comfort station?

Not far at all. Maybe 200 yards to the restroom and 100 ft to parking.
