My girls enjoyed their visit to the Reece Farm and they especially liked the farm animals. It is a hidden gem in Union County.

There is a petting zoo type area with a donkey, goat, sheep, chickens, etc. You can buy animal food for a quarter, so take your spare change. The back of the property is Wolf Creek. It is a quiet stream, nice for wading and pictures. Entrance is free, so that's nice. In the back of the visitor center there is a refrigerator with ice cream you can buy. There are also lots of barns and out buildings to explore and learn about farming. Adults might enjoy the poetry gardens or just walking in a peaceful, quiet place. BHR's life was hard and interesting. Children might not care about that, but they do like to run free and they could do that here.

For those of you who love the poetry and teaching of Bettie M. Sellers there is a special place at the Reece Farm dedicated to her. Not only was she a teacher at Young Harris College for 31 years she was the Poet Laureate of Georgia for several years during the governorship of Zell Miller. It is a peaceful quiet spot beside the river where he memory lives on.

We’ve visited the north Georgia mountains for years and really enjoyed the center and learning about Reece. We went on a fall day and enjoyed walking around the grounds. Lots of information I didn’t know about the Georgia writer.
