We’ve visited the north Georgia mountains for years and really enjoyed the center and learning about Reece. We went on a fall day and enjoyed walking around the grounds. Lots of information I didn’t know about the Georgia writer.

If you have never been on a farm might be ok but otherwise it is a vacant park with little to no interest... Sorry maybe the historical value maybe there for some but not us

Reece was a local, internationally famous novelist, teacher, musician, and poet. His first-hand perspective of Appalachia won him many awards. The site is a wonderful look into the near past of the area, and struggles of the local residents. A great place for kids and...More

We apologize that the 'fee' signs are still up. The Reece Farm is now part of the Recreation Department facilities of Union County, so there are no fees for visits. There are only fees for uses such as meetings, weddings, etc. Thanks for stopping by,...More

Thanks for your review. The barn's exterior is essentially the same as in Reece's day, but the interior stalls have been slightly changed to accommodate the displays about life on a farm in the early to mid-20th century. As far as I know, Byron Herbert...More
