It always surprises me that many folks that live within 100 miles of the highest point in Georgia have never been there. This is worth a trip any time, but especially in the fall when the colors are changing. Yes it costs to park. You can then hike up to the top (very short paved trail) or take a van... More

This is definitely a tourist stop. It's something you add to a trip, not a trip of its own. You pay about $5 per person. Parking was plentiful but it could be because of the time of year (late November). Then you can hike up to the top which is a short but steep uphill climb or take a van... More

Wife and I visited the day after Thanksgiving. Temperature at the bottom was 64. At the top, 50, but no wind, which is unusual. So, bring a jacket if you're visiting any time other than summer. Views today were about 30-50 miles, which was pretty good. On a perfect day, you can see the Atlanta skyline, 80 miles away. We've... More

It's quite a hike if you choose to walk to the top but it's worth it. This is the highest peak in the area and you can see several states from the viewing pad at the top. It's also a beautiful walk up.

Cold! But very beautiful! We took the shuttle up and the family walked back. We could see a long way! We were surprised that the condition of the viewing deck was in such bad shape. Some board were dangerous Movie was worn out think they need to redo it. The staff was wonderful and had things for the kids to... More

At 4800 feet in altitude, you won't find a higher point in Georgia. You can choose to hike the distance on a fairly well-marked trail, but be forewarned, it is strenuous and requires that you are in shape and have been hiking in preparation... or drive to a lofty parking lot, where the have a really nice store with great... I have been here twice but only climbed it the first time . Its not a pretty mountain since its really "bald". You have a good view from the top but the foliage was gone when we were there . They have a shuttle bus to take people to the top if they are unable or do not want to... More
