The tour guides, porters and service were some of the best I've ever experienced. Hamdi, Jamal, Zii and everyone made the experience something truly special and I can't wait to visit again. They treat you like family <3.

We booked our trip with Reza Trekker when we had reached Lombok. Jamal (Owner of Reza Trekker) was prompt and quick with his replies.
The group of 4 of us initially booked a 3D2N hike with them however, when we reached Pos 1, we were turned back down by the police as we were told the park was closed due to the volcano eruption that occured a week earlier (this was in October 2016)
Our moods were dampened because that meant we could not continue our trek to Rinjani and attempt to reach the summit.
However, with the quick response of our guide, Andi and Jamal. They made alternate arrangements for us to visit the Tiu Kelep and Sendang Gile Waterfalls the next day.

While we were at the waterfalls, the tour companies at Rinjani all went on strike and had the police to change their minds. (I know, it's like something out of the movies. Haha)
So when we heard the news that Rinjani was going to be opened the next day, we immediately decided that we wanted to do the 2D1N trek with them.

Without hesitation, Jamal made arrangements to get our leftover clothes that we had placed at our Hostel from our first night at Lombok. (The hostel was located at the OTHER side of Lombok.)

So we began our second attempt in climbing Rinjani, this time 2D1N. The climb was tough but Andi told us to take our time and that safety was his main concern, as we had already drained our energy on the previous attempt at Rinjani and the waterfalls.
Andi and the porters were patient when a couple of us were struggling with muscle cramps and aches.

But...with the many set backs in the beginning of our trip..

WE MADE IT TO THE TOP. WE MADE SUMMIT.

All thanks to Reza Trekker. For wanting the best for us and for going out of the way to not make us feel disappointed. Doing their best to make sure we had a pleasant experience at Rinjani.

Thank you guys! :)

To be honest, I didn't give high expectation to any agent in Indonesia due to previous experience. However, Reza Trekker is unbelievably amazing! The owner Jamal gave us an reasonable price for 3D2N trekking to Rinjani summit. Because the difficulty to pay deposit( I booked the trekking way earlier), he didn't insist on that and everything just verbally agreed. The driver showed up on time to pick us from airport and drove us to office for the briefing. After that fetch us to hotel and Jamal even arranged a guide to bring us to waterfall the day before trekking. Everything was just well-arranged. I have to mention our guide Karim, the best guide I ever had before! He is very patient and considerable. When hiking up to summit, he held my friend's hand and encouraged her to take her own pace without rush. Without him, my friend couldn't make it to the summit. When we were walking down to the lake, he noticed that I was having a hard time to walk due to exhaustion and feet pain and the trail was so steep and dangerous. So he offered to help my carry my backpack. Besides, He was very familiar with the area and flexible with the plan. When he found we were behind the schedule, he changed the camping place from Crater Rim 2 to another place, so that we could rest more on the second day and prepare for the last descending day. In terms of meal, Karim cooked delicious food for us, and two porters (sorry I didn't get their name) even carried fruits, like watermelon and honey dew for all the way, which were insanely heavy! Another thing to highlight is that Karim them never threw the rubbish. They just kept the plastic and empty bottles with them. We really appreciate all the staff in Reza Trekker!

Reza Trekker can't deliver what they advertise. Let us tell you as followed:

1) We booked 3days/nights summit via Senaru DELUXE package which costs USD.240/Person and it says Deluxe service will have beers and rice wine on the mountain. There were no such beer and wine things. I asked James who is our guide about this since day 1. His reaction was like he had never known this thing that his boss Jamal told the clients about. We are not addicted to alcohol but this is not right. Nobody should say anything that they can't keep.

2) The package says this price includes pillow. But it was not true for us. There was no pillow and we needed to sleep on our hands.

Reza Trekker provided the worst guide ever for us. His name is James. And this is what he put us through:

1) A guide is supposed to lead us , walk in front of us and always look back for offering help. You can find noting mentioned earlier in this guy. He walked behind us most of the time on Day 1 and the half day of Day 2. And there was any chance he walked in front of us, he went too fast for us to catch up. What do we need a guide for then?

2) James is always on the phone and he is a heavy smoker.

3) At night of day 1, he offered another choice for us. He tried to persuade us to get back to Senaru and change our minds --not to stick to the original plan which we paid for and never get the money refund. We're glad we didn't fall for his laziness and taking advantage of others. He always keeps saying about the difficulties that we're going to face if we stick to the old plan.

4) We asked him about the cost of hiring a porter to carry our stuffs for day 3. He told us it would cost 200,000 Rupiah per day for all the baggages we've got. But just a day after, he said the price is 600,000 Rupiah. Back then, I asked him if I can talk to Jamal. He said there was no signal and asked us back about what we're going to talk to Jamal. After that, he got angry and said he's going to call the porters to leave and let us walk on our own. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY INSANE AND UNPROFESSIONAL.

TO SUM UP, PLEASE CONSIDER OTHER COMPANIES AND NEVER PICK THIS ONE. HOPEFULLY THE THING WE'D BEEN THROUGH WILL NOT HAPPEN TO OTHERS AGAIN.

I swear every word I give here is true. I also got the picture of the guide to show that he walks so far away behind us.

There was absolutely no value in booking through Reza Trekker. If you show up on the island, you can book a tour for half the price. I booked through Reza Trekker and Jamal added me to a tour where everyone on the trip had paid half as much. I paid for the Deluxe service, which was supposed to include a 6cm thick mattress, beer on the mountain, a toilet tent, and a pillow. The only thing extra I got that my fellow hikers on the tour who paid half as much didn't get was two cans of Coke. I was able to negotiate with Jamal to get some of the money back, but if I hadn't spoken to my fellow hikers about the price of the hike, Jamal would have been more than happy to rip me off. Not recommended.

Did not stick to schedule and give the breaks as promised. Did the 3D/2N summit. I'm a really fit person 5'4 and 120lbs and the second day we did not get the 3 hour lunch break (after hiking since 1:30AM - 14 hours straight) and they had us wake up at 5am on the 3rd day. I think the guides/porters just wanted to get home. Also said would provide fast boat to Gili T for 100k which when I arrived to the port, they tried to charge 300k. I refused and walked to the public fast boat counter... Guess what??! The same boat they were trying to charge me 300k for was the public boat... and it only costs 85k.

Last week I did a three day / two night Rinjani trek with Reza Trekker. I wanted to pay a little extra for my tour in the hopes that the quality would be better but sadly that wasn't the case. There were two examples where they failed egregiously and I think they need to be called out as they don't seem committed to safety.

1. Before the trek I told the owner Jamal that I have a food allergy to tree nuts. I explained to him what foods I am allergic to and told him that if I eat these foods I can die when my throat closes up. He assured me that he understood and that he would tell the guide and porters about this to make sure they would not feed me nuts while on the trip. When my guide picked me up the first morning I mentioned this to him and he had no idea. Clearly Jamal had never relayed this critically important (for me, life and death) information. The guide's english was not very good and I had a much harder time getting him to understand. At this point the porters had already bought and packed all the food with no knowledge of my allergy. It made me very uncomfortable the whole trip. Luckily there were no nuts in the food. I told Jamal how important this was for me and he did not relay a simple piece of information. This is inexcusable.

2. While going for the summit on the second morning the rest of my group was too tired/cold to go, so it was just me and the guide. 2/3 of the way to the top the guide tells me he is too cold to go on and will wait for me there. I tell him this is fine as I am an experienced hiker, there are people all around and I have enough water. When I come back down to the spot where we parted the guide is not there. Turns out he decided to go all the way down without me, so I hike down three hours alone with no one else. Eventually I run out of water and separate from all the other groups on the trail. I get lost and end up at a cliff, have to backtrack to find the path again, fall down a bunch before making it back to camp. This again is unacceptable. I am the guide's responsibility, they absolutely cannot leave me hiking alone in unfamiliar places for three hours with limited water. I am lucky nothing bad happened.

These two are absolute deal breakers. If you read this far I urge you to avoid this company just based on those two instances where they really dropped the ball on safety. But to top it off I just feel like even outside of those things this company is poor value. You pay double what other companies do and have absolutely no extras. You eat the same stuff, have the same sleeping gear, and your guide is a 20 year old kid who will leave you when he gets cold. There are companies such as Rudy Trekking that clearly had a more premium experience that may be worth the extra money.

We had an amazing experience with Reza trekking. Our guide and porters were very funny and shared a lot of their lives with us, making it an unforgetable trip! We had never done anything like this before, and we made it!

If you go to Lombok you must go to Mt. Rinjani! It is not an easy trek, but you can choose different options of length, starting from 2D1N and you can get only to the crater rim or up to the top. I did the first and was exhausted, but regretted not getting to the very top. Reza trekker was great in organizing everything from the start. We exchanged a few email months before my arrival and he was really quick in answering all my questions in a very good english. He didn't ask for a deposit, but we finalized the payment once I got there. He sent a driver to pick me up at the airport, organized for my night stay before the trek, gave me a guide to go to the falls while I was waiting in the afternoon and everything I needed for the trek. Both the porter and guide did an excellent job and took great care of me in those two days. The tour was a bit expensive for me as a single traveller, but everything had to be provided for one person only, it's true. The one thing that I didn't like was to be kept waiting for two hours after the trek before being accompanied to my next destination. However, all in all it was a very good experience and the company offered a good service.

The owner, Jamal, is very responsive to emails and does his best to accommodate to our requests. He is very friendly in person and explains to us clearly the overview of the entire 4 day 3 night trek.

Our guide, Solin (aka Lin), is an excellent guide as he is very patient with us. He constantly looks out for our welfare and carries our water and energy food in his backpack. He never fails to answer all our questions. He helped me down the steep slopes when he saw that I kept falling down. He guides us to the safest pathway and also tries to teach us how to descend quickly and safely without hurting our knees.

Our porters were fantastic. They carried our heavy load without complaints. They were quick to set up the tents and cook for us whenever we reach our rest stop. The food was prepared with care and elegantly presented to us on proper plates with clean utensils. The food portion was always generous. They ensured that we had our food fill before they settled their own food. Once, when we tried to start a campfire on our own, one of the porters saw that and immediately went to pick up dry twigs for us. The pro activeness, hospitality, humour, kindness and enthusiasm of these porters and guide warmed our heart.

We felt pampered and well taken care of by Reza Trekker. Absolutely comfortable and amazing experience.
