Mount Rinjani is my first summit and to be honest, I didn’t expect the level of difficulty before going. But I am more than grateful that I made the decision to trek the mountain thanks to Mr Hardy. He was very encouraging and patient with all my random questions regarding the trek, itineraries, weather, transportation…

The entire journey went really smooth: I took a speedboat from Bali to Lombok, Mr Hardy has sent someone to pick me up at the harbour, staying at a comfy hotel at Sanur with the perfect mountain view, trekking for the next 3 days on the mountain, someone waiting for us after the trek to send us back to the harbour.

I was taken good care of during the trek. My guide Anom was really patient with me, always waiting for me and reminding me of the safety hazards. On the summit day, our plan was to catch the sunrise at 6am. I was quite exhausted at the beginning due to the slippery, sandy, steep route, but he didn’t push me at all, instead he asked me to take all the time I need…Luckily I made it to the summit before sunrise and enjoyed the most beautiful sunrise in my entire life. The view was stunning! Not only the view from the summit, but also the view on our way to the lake, to the camping site…basically everywhere on Mount Rinjani has a view.

Last but not least, our porters were amazing! They cooked really tasty food (restaurant standard). The camp was comfy enough to have a good rest during the night.

Thanks everyone for this incredible experience!

Mr Hardy looked after me like family. I struggled with internet to pay my deposit and he trusted me to pay on arrival, and sent a car to pick me up from the other side of Lombok (3 hours away) and the wonderful driver Is helped me get money from the ATM. Then, I was the only hiker, and he and his lovely wife and family welcomed me into their home and fed me a beautiful meal. I was treated like their own daughter, so kind. His son Mujahidin who has a beautiful daughter of his own, took me on a slow-paced, guided tour of the nearby waterfalls and was very engaging, telling stories and singing.
They put me up in a lovely, quiet homestay where I was fed dinner and breakfast, and the staff were the kindest, most accomodating. The view of Rinjani and the ocean from the homestay was spectacular.
I was only meant to hike to the crater rim (1N2D), but Mr Hardy encouraged me to summit (1N2D also) and provided me with extra gear - a head torch, rain coat and later came by the home stay with hiking poles for me free of charge. He went above and beyond.
The hike itself was challenging at times, but our most wonderful guide Bri never pushed us and allowed us to hike at our own pace. In fact, he encouraged us to rest often rather than pushing on to the lunch POS which meant we arrived when lunch was served rather than pushing hard and waiting at that POS for too long. So caring and considerate. He was engaging the whole 2 days, speaking at length with all hikers (four of us), keeping morale up and making sure we were all comfortable. For the summit, he walked with the last hiker to make sure no one was left behind.
The porters are the strongest, most hardworking and thoughtful men I have met. Their job is incredibly hard and they do it with a smile on their faces. The meals they provided were amazing, and the set up and pack down of camp was seamless. They carried our gear, food and water for us like champs. Couldn't have done it without them.
We arrived at the crater for the night to a set up camp and too much food to eat. I shared some with other hikers from other trekking companies who were amazed with the luxuries we were provided (pisang goreng for snacks and banana pancakes at 2am before the summit).
The summit obviously is completely amazing and a must do when in Indo. But the people made all the difference! Mr Hardy's team is simply the best! I felt welcomed, safe, supported, and appreciated by everyone I met through hiking with Mr Hardy. I wish him and his family-business all the blessings in the world, they really do deserve it.
If you are thinking of hiking Rinjani, Mr Hardy's WhatsApp is +628175750585. The best part about your experience won't even be the hike, it'll be all the people that help you get there!
Terima kasih bunyak Mr Hardy and family :)

I booked a 3D2N trek with their company. It all started with an extremely warm and hospitable welcome by Mr. Hardy. He invited us all to dinner at his house the night before we left for Rinjani. The trek was very well organised, our guide Pak Anom and porters were extremely nice and flexible. Throughout our trip, we were served delicious meals (soto ayam, nasi goreng, eggs etc...).

The camps and sleeping bags were decent and we could ask them to camp wherever we wanted. By the crater lake, we wanted to be away from the crowd and noise, so they were nice enough to find a queit place by the waterfall for us.

The trek itself was challenging, but not too difficult if you have the right shoes, bagpacks and rain ponchos. Overall, I had a wonderful experience with our guide and porters and the whole experience was made better by Mr. Hardy's recommendations and excellent communication and his storytelling :)

Would definitely recommend anyone planning a trip to get in touch with them :)

There is too much I have to say about this man, I am writing about Mr.Hardy. As his son Alba said on our tour, "He is a Legend", truly he is!

You are looking for a guide for trekking on Rinjani, the search has come to an end!

In the meantime, Hardy no longer does any tours himself, but he is happy to pass on the experience he has gained from more than 30 years on and around Rinjani to his son and the rest of the team.

Over the last few years, Rinjani-companys
have sprung up like mushrooms, but none of the organisations can keep up with this one!

Hardly any of them have anything like the experience that these men have gathered over the years or even decades.

You should also be aware that when you book a tour, most of the money goes into the hands of the organisation and not, as it should, to the hard-working guides and porters who do the really challenging part of the trek for you. Many of the organisation have nothing to do with the area, or even with Indonesia, but see it as a simple source of income.

Things are different with this small family business, which has been based at the foot of Rinjani for more than 30 years now. Where the money is distributed fairly so that this village can continue to grow sensibly.

Actually, I wanted to be brief, but there are so many positive things to say about Hardy and Alba that I had to expand a little.

The love and the heart and soul behind this organisation is simply breathtaking.

So I can only advise you to book the tour with a legend, even if he will not share the path with you, but he has a more than worthy substitute in his son Alba.

Many thanks for this unforgettable tour

I had an incredible time trekking Mt Rinjani, the trip organized by Mr Hardy was terrific. I was group with great fellow trekkers and fantastic guide and porters. The staff made the trip so exceptional for the 3D2N we were up there. I could not recommend them enough, the food was delicious and they were always asking how we were doing with the hike. Plus Mr Hardy’s hospitality before and after the trip was superb, showing me to spectacular local waterfalls and feeding declined home-cooked meals. Truly a great experience from start to finish. Book directly through him for the best possible trip!

Was a Solo traveller looking for a fun and trilling time. Lombok Trekking by Idien was more than accommodating to indulge my goal to finally trek Mt. Rinjani. I was grouped with other adventure seekers from other counties so it was cool to gain new friends. Mabuhay to Anna, Alex, Esther and Lotte! I wasn’t in my top condition going into to the trek but Mr Hardy and Mr Awan was encouraging enough and flexible enough to accommodate our needs and goals during the whole trip, just inform them during the trek. Just heads up Mt Rinjani will definitely test your limits and endurance but the Idien team will guide you all the way. Mr Hardy would always tell us to just chill! Trek at your own phase and go for the summit, the views are breathtaking. Have fun guys, orientation will be the night before day 01 of the trek, no worries Idien team will take care of you from start to finish!!! If you have food concerns inform them before hands or else expect to enjoy Indonesia meals.

Mr. Hardy organized for us a Rinjani Trekking and a boat trip to Komodo. All goes according to plan, schedule and our agreement. I fully recommend both activities that were among best trips in my life. Also, no worries about paying to Mr. Hardy upfront via Wise. As an additional recommendation, I add that very good tour operators cooperate with this company for Rinjani trekking.

I did a 4D 3N trekking to Mt. Rinjani on August 13-16, 2022 and be accompanied with a guide and also porter (Ijan and Mr. Tari). Our guide was so helpful, friendly and our porter as well. They will do everything they can to make sure you enjoy the trip.

And you don't need to worry about anything while you are with them, because the foods and drinks (including snacks), the tent, the equipments, are all prepared for you.

The trek itself was quite challenging but it worth your effort. Luckily my guide was patient enough to help me hike the top of the mountain. But you have to be careful with the hiking trail because it quite dangerous and need a total focus, unless you want to hurt yourself; even the locals have their own nickname with the trail such as the abyss of the death, cliff of suffer, etc.

I was amazed by our porter as well for his talents especially cooking. His cook was tasty and delicious, I wasn't expect that I could enjoyed the good food while trekking.

Last but not least, thank you for Mr. Suhardy for arranging this trip. So glad I had this trip with him. You can directly contact him by WA to arrange your trip with Mr. Suhardy on +62 8175750585. Cheers!

Hiking up to the crater rim was amazing! Our porters and guide, Dedy, were outstanding- so kind and helpful. The jungle below was beautiful and the mt quite green due to the time of year. I would have loved to climb to the summit and go to the lake but these trails were not open at this time. This hike was moderate to difficult- definitely not easy. We climbed 2000m in 7 miles. The most challenging part was that much of the trail had been washed out. Most likely due to the rainy season. Also, it was quite unfortunate to find so much trash along the way and at the crater rim camp. Hopefully the companies can continue to make efforts to keep such a beautiful environment clean. I was asked to pay 30% deposit to secure booking. No problems with that. Mr. Hardy was wonderful to deal with. I would highly recommend this company and the amazing climb to Mt. Rinjani. Definitely a huge highlight of my trip!

I can highly recommend the massage at Lombok Trekking in Senaru – what better way could there be to soothe the body and mind after a long and arduous day's trekking. I was in town for two nights, and visited both nights for the body massage from Lukman, the Massage Master. He's got amazing skills, and can also offer advice on any individual issues or ailments you might be experiencing. Next time I'm in Senaru, I'll definitely be dropping by to see Lukman again.
