About
The Rollins Museum of Art (RMA) features rotating exhibitions, ongoing programs, and an extensive permanent collection that spans centuries, from examples of ancient art and artifacts to contemporary art. Open to the public year-round, its holdings include the only European Old Master paintings in the Orlando area, a sizeable American art collection, and a forward-thinking contemporary collection on view both at the museum and The Alfond Inn at Rollins. Located a few blocks from campus, The Alfond Inn is a visionary philanthropic boutique hotel whose proceeds help fund student scholarships. In 1981, the museum became Florida’s first college museum to be accredited by the American Association of Museums (currently the American Alliance of Museums) and continues in 2021 as one of only four AAM-accredited museums in greater Orlando.

Nice small museum
Feb 2020
This small museum is located on the lake-front of Rollins College. There are a few parking spaces in front - I am not sure where you park if those are full. Admission to the museum is free. When we visited they were having an exhibit of African textiles and jewelry - it was very well presented, although it was difficult read the printed labels on the exhibits. They also had a modern redo of some Normal Rockwell art based on the freedoms in the United States - very interesting. And there was small exhibition of paintings. The museum has a large collection, but only small galleries so most of their collection is not on view - they are trying to build a big museum.

Diamond in the Rough

All the way from Tampa, we’re spending Valentine’s Day weekend in Winter Park at a quaint downtown boutique hotel. The fine arts museum is located on Rollins College just a 10 minute walk from downtown. Just a beautiful college campus, a must see. You’re allowed to just walk the campus. The museum had a couple of exhibitions that we both really enjoyed.

There is no admission! We did leave a $20 bill in the donation jar.

Very beautifully presented free museum
Dec 2019
This small gallery presents its pieces beautifully. A must-see is a first edition of Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass, bound by Walt Whitman himself. Definitely go.

Well curated and right sized
Nov 2019
Tucked into a corner of the picturesque Rollins College campus, this museum has only handful of rooms. Each gallery’s theme is well displayed and curated providing an educational experience befitting its academic setting. There is also a hands on play area for kids. Admission and parking are free.

See special exhibition of African American Art
Oct 2019
I went to Winter Park to see the Cornell Fine Arts Museum, I was not disappointed. On until December 29, they have a special exhibition of 45 works by 34 artists on loan from the Smithsonian American Art Museum. The exhibition is very well laid out & lit, along with detailed descriptions of each work and more info about the artist. The art museum also has special events associated with the exhibition - the next one is on Nov 19 at 6 pm with the curator Gisela Carbonell. After touring the exhibition, I walked over to the Alfond Inn, where more of their collection is no display in a pristine setting. I had not trouble finding parking (next door at the dock) & I recommend visiting the Alfond to cap off a wonderful day in Winter Park.

Small but Tasteful
Aug 2019
This is a small gallery at Rollins College. It was very nice. There was a wide variety of styles. I really liked the Photo Realism art. It was also nice to see the artwork from local high school students. The museum is free. They only ask for a donation.

No parking
Mar 2019 • Friends
I and a friend visiting from California drove to the Cornell Museum at Rollins College expecting to see a fine arts museum. We parked nearby & entered the museum - the guard at the front desk asked where we parked, so I showed him where my car was just up the street. He said I had to park in the lot by the museum, so I went out to move my car - when I drove to the designated lot it was full. I stopped, put on the emergency flashers, went back in & asked where id additional parking. Guard said I could try the parking garage a quarter mile away. Guy was nasty & unhelpful. We left & won't be back. Grade F.

Small But Interesting Museum On Rollins College Campus
Feb 2019 • Couples
This is a small museum but it has a nice collection of art. During this visit in February 2019, the featured exhibit was several 3-D mixed media pieces by two Mexican brothers. Very interesting. The museum has articles from the very old to more modern including an Andy Warhol. The nice thing is that it's free. Parking can be tight especially if there is a special event. Rollins is a small campus with limited parking.
