I would like to acknowledge the kindness of an employee/manager of Bikes and Blades. My friend and I rented bikes last week, planning on a two hour ride. It was a lovely ride until on the way back, my rear tire went flat. I rode as long as possible, then called the bike station. John, who was on duty at the time, said that they didn't have a rescue service, and he was very sorry that since he was alone at the shop, I would have to walk the bike back. I walked for awhile in the 94 degree heat, then decided I would not make it the rest of the way back, and begged a ride from a lawn maintenance worker at a gas station. When the kind worker deposited me at the bike shop, John informed me that since the flat tire had ruined our day, he was going to comp both bike rentals, for my friend and me. In addition, he invited us to help ourselves to anything we wanted from their cooler. Since the flat tire was certainly not the fault of the bike shop, this was above and beyond the call of duty. I will always rent from this bike shop in the future, whenever I happen to travel to central Florida!

Ww were looking for something to do on what started out as a fairly chilly day. We discovered this cycle opportunity via the internet and set out to explore the West Orange Trail starting out from Killarney Station. The staff at the reception were courtious, friendly and very helpful in welcoming us and explaining the trail as well as things to look out for along the way. Safety helmets are also provided if required. The route itself follows a disused railway course and apart from a few crossing points on some minor roads we were on dedicated cycle paths the whole of the journey. During our journey we cycled some 13 and a half miles to Apopka Vineland Outpost before turning back. On the return trip we stopped at Winter Garden Station where there are plenty of bicycle stands on which to secure your bikes (Conbination lock provided by the hire shop). We parked up and explored this beautiful little town and had lunch at one of the fantastic little resteraunts. Having refueled ourselves we set off back to Kilarney Station to return our bikes. The whole day was a great experience helped by the friendly professional staff at the outset on well maintained and comfortable bikes. The route for the most part is flat making the going easy even for inexperienced cyclists. The scenery along the way was wonderful. We would recommend this as an alternative day out to the many theme parks where you can relax at your own pace and had a great experience.

This was our first time riding the west orange trail. We started at the Apopka trailhead. I think this will be one of our favorite bike trails. It’s diverse, flat and doesn’t have much traffic. There are several street crossings but most have a traffic light to assist you with crossing. Check it out!

We hired electric bikes from this company and they were absolutely awful.
The gears continually jumped so I had to ride in top gear for most of our 40 mile trip which eventually gave me cramp.
The front brake cable snapped just as I was approaching a junction so had to ride the next 30 miles with just a rear brake, which was rubbish also. When we got back I told the guy in the shop and he couldn’t care less.

Wonderful experience and great way to spend a Sunday morning on vacation. The staff was not only friendly and efficient, they provided suggestions on where to stop and how far along everything was. We are a family of 5 - with a 10 year old and 12 year old twins and they had a blast. The trail was active but safe, and beautiful. The bikes were in very good condition. We will be back!

Exceeded my expectations. Great bikes at a very fair price. They even changed the peddles to accommodate my bike shoes. The trail is fantastic. Very wide well paved and well marked. I highly recommend this for anyone from 1 to 100

Hired bikes here twice, great service, comfortable bikes and a lovely trail. We headed on the West Orange Trail towards Winter Gardens and beyond which was lovely. The second time we headed in the other direction on the South Lakes trail which was not as enjoyable, too much traffic noise and fumes from nearby roads. Stick to the West Orange Trail for a lovely chilled scenic ride.

The location offers ample parking, on my visit there were lots of people here. I had no bike reservation and only waited a few minutes. I was helped on this visit and my other visits quickly by friendly, helpful people. It was an easy and quick experience , and so much fun to start the trail from here. Thank you so much for a great time!

Rented bikes here to ride the West Orange trail on a chilly day by Florida standards. Joe was super helpful getting us bikes and trail information. The bikes were awesome. His recommendation to stop at Rosalie’s in Winter Haven for a snack was spot on. Highly recommend!

Do you offer a shuttle service to points on the trail that would allow a person to then cycle back to your store?
Written June 16, 2018
Hello. Yes, we can provide that service. $50 for 1-4 people from the bike shop to a point on the West Orange Trail. Contact me at 407 247-2419 with specifics. Thanks! Julie

Hi, I was wondering if it's an additional $7.00 for the add on trailer for kids to sit in attached to the bike?
Written June 12, 2017
Hi, Yes, that would be considered an additional bike so if you rent a bike and a trailer, it would be $14 per hour. If you have further questions, let me know.
