Was looking for a last minute campsite in FL as we headed north. No spaces showed up on any Reserve America state parks. Took a chance and called this place. Nice volunteer lady gave us a spot in the equestrian camping area. Only downside is...More
We have been coming here for years, always a nice place to stay, things use to be clean and quite. Since the closing of the bathroom/shower house our weekend stays have not been as nice. When they first closed the bathrooms for remodel they had...More
We came here to hike with our dog. We found the small parking on Hwy 301 South. Ample parking right at trail kiosk. $5 parking (honor system) $2 if you walk or ride your bike in. There are envelopes at the trailhead. There is a...More
Just spent about three hours at Little Manatee River State Park. Very quiet and peaceful, even on a Saturday. Walked some trails, took some photos and had a picnic lunch. Plenty of restrooms. Campsites looked nice. Felt very "old Florida." Some trails could have been...More
What remains of natural Florida is fast dissappearing so the park is good place to be able to get out and do hiking and boating. Through the main gate (5 dollars per car) you can find decent camping grounds and canoes and kayaks to rent....More

It's just ok. It's water & electric only. We had 50 amp hookup, but I don't believer there are any full hook ups available. The campsites aren't anywhere near the river access. The campsites were roomy. We drove down to Myakka River State Park one day and it is a much nicer park, in my opinion. The campground is near the water. We've never camped there, but I would say look into that if it's in your ability to go there.
