It was a nice little tour but way too expensive for the little tour ($17 - I did get $2 off as i took water taxi over). Was interesting but when paying for a family of four - way too expensive for what you are seeing. Very nice man gave tour but just not that much to see for the price they charge.

My husband and I visited this with another couple. The four of us have been in South Florida for years and never been to Peanut Island which seems ridiculous but busy with work and family. Peanut island is very cool, easy water taxi to get there $8 round trip, nice walk around after visited Maritime Museum, the Museum itself is just ok, it is small, but interesting.

The museum itself was very small. They did have some very intersting items from the 30's and 40's. Of course the best part was the JFK fallout bunker. It was really cool. They did a great job recreating what it would of looked like inside. Definitely something to see. The staff and guides were super friendly and great. The only issue I have is the price. Costs way too much for something that takes 30-45 minutes. Plus you have to pay for the ferry to take you to the island.

The Maritime Museum itself if disappointing. It really is a mish mash of things, with no order or history. There are two buildings and the JFK bunker. The welcome center could be a lot more welcoming, though the personnel working there were friendly and helpful. The exhibits were few and disjointed. The large building housing the coast guard museum was also disappointing. They had a number of rooms but again very disjointed. Still I recommend a visit just to see the bunker and walk the island, enjoy the park and beach.
