Beware! We use the park app by the beach. When you renew your parking on the app be careful to make sure you choose the right vehicle if you have multiple vehicles on the app. We got a 60.00 ticket and the app is not connected to the city your actually paying the ticket to. So the app people didn’t help and the city was unwilling to correct it or see the evidence we presented that we had paid the parking. It is things like this that can ruin an otherwise perfect weekend! Thank you West palm Beach government agency.

After living nearby for over ten years, the situation in Downtown West Palm Beach is somewhat polarized with good and bad things. The good things have not changed in ten years, namely: location, quality of restaurants, number of restaurants, and parking. The undesirable issues have progressively gone downhill.
Almost all visitors into Downtown West Palm Beach can be divided into two groups: tourists and locals who want to have a good time, spend money, explore new restaurants, walk down Clematis and overall courteous to others.
The other group is made of locals from nearby neighborhoods are looking to disrupt, offend or intimidate the aforementioned group. They cruise Clematis, Rosemary, Okeechobee Blvd, and Flagler and dart back and forth between these busy streets using side streets for a few hours per night, mainly on Friday and Saturday nights. I am writing this review on Sunday, because is close to Christmas and they were out in full force.
The louder their cars, and the faster they drive, the more stop signs they run, and the longer they look into your car to see who you are the better they seem to feel. They have no regard for the noise they produce, or the speeds the drive (Rosemary is now officially down to 5 mph) and Okeechobee Eastbound is down to 35.

I went to see the Sandi Tree lighting this year. The street around it was very festive. They decorated it with lots of lights. There was a band playing and a Farris wheel on the side. There was lots of vendors selling different food and novelty items. It was nice seeing the tree and different sand sculptures

Downtown West Palm Beach, City Place is a great place to eat, dine and shop. There are restaurants and plenty of place to shop and drink. Bring the kids there is a water spray area with lounge chairs.

We came to the area and especially like the area called "The Square." Lot's of nice shops, cafes, ice cream parlors, restaurants, etc. Clean and safe with security everywhere. Parking in the garage was a breeze so that made it even more pleasant.

The transformation of downtown West Palm Beach from an at most uninspiring and at worst seedy and dangerous decaying neighborhood into a fascinating, multi-faceted and hip place is one of the most remarkable transformations of a city neighborhood that I have seen. Now, all of a sudden, this area is one of the big attractions of urban life in South Florida, very clean and pretty due to its master planned high end buildings, with a rather vibrant collection of restaurants and shops. Very enjoyable!

I have been to every major downtown area in Florida. Downtown West Palm Beach is among the best hands down. Few downtown areas in Florida offer as much to do in a relatively compact and scenic area. Start out at CityPlace, the shopping and dining mecca that includes all of the dining and shopping options you can imagine plus a beautiful courtyard area with live entertainment on weekends. From CityPlace there is a free trolley that you can take to various points of interest in and around downtown. The most interesting being Clematis Street and the waterfront. Clematis Street really comes alive at night, especially in the winter months when there are a number of festivals and events at the waterfront. The waterfront area also host one of the best green markets in the State on Saturday mornings. A charming walk along Flagler Drive gives you wonderful views of the intracoastal waterway and magnificent yachts as well as charming boat docks that one and stroll. You can also paddle board, jet-ski or take a sunset cruise. Enjoy Broadway shows and concerts at the fantastic Kravis Center for the performing Arts or one of the best art galleries in Florida at the Norton Art Gallery. There is something for everyone in downtown West Palm Beach.

Being so close to the Greater Miami area, you would figure that West Palm Beach would be busy, artsy, and full of young gorgeous model-types. No, not at all.
Downtown West Palm Beach has virtually become a ghost town. Half of the small boutique store fronts have shut down and are empty. in, fact West Palm Beach itself is basically empty. Ever since i was a kid, West Palm has been the shy cousin of Fort Lauderdale and Miami, but now it is just plain boring. Like "zombie apocoplyse where is everybody" boring. Don't even waste your time going, unless you want to enjoy a nice, quiet nap.

there is absolutely nothing to do in this awkward ''city''. a triumph of provincialism and bad taste with hobo appeal. aggresive and ugly people (really) , only drunks and just one supermarket. the only question is which is worse, clematis street or city place ???

Headed to WPB in two weeks! Where is the best place to be if I'm looking for a young hip crowd, good food, fun nightlife and easy beach access?

Is there a resort in the palm beach area where we can spend the day? Looking for somewhere we can sit on the beach, order drinks, and possiy use the pool.
Written October 16, 2017
I would recommend the Jupiter Beach Resort. It's in north Palm Beach County. the Breakers is fabulous but very pricey. A fun place to go to drinks and fun and to sit near the water to dine is Guanabana's, also in Jupiter. Breakers would typically be all tourists. North Jupiter area, Johnny Mango's, Guanbana's and Jupiter Beach Resort, you'll find a good mix of people, locals and tourists, young and old. A great beach is near the Juno Pier (no drinks but still great and at McArthur State Park.

we like to dance, we are in are 50"s - any clubs you can recommend

There's a new location in City Place, downtown West Palm Beach that opened called The Bowery. We've gone a few times and they've got music and a small dance floor. There's also a place in Boca, The Pavillion Grill, they've got dancing almost every night, but they cater to an older crowd. The music is good though, oldies, 60's, 70's (both the music and the crowd) Bowery is younger, 40's, 50's with a wide variety of music

Tre are parking meters on both sides of the beach avenue. There are private parking garages near saks. I haven't seen any free parking areas.

Going for 2 days. Want to spend 1 day @ Beach. What beach is good? Do they have parking access. How far to walk: Have 78 year old with us

The nearest ocean beach is on the east side of the town of Palm Beach. If you are in West Palm Beach and go to Palm Beach the beach is just a few minutes by car where public parking at $5 is available. Also ocean route A1A runs the length of the Island where ocean beaches abound in every township..

Shopping: Worth Avenue is where the top designer salons are, Palm Beach Outlets is here with many designer outlet stores. City Place in downtown is a great place to visit.
Beaches: From north in Jupiter thru Singer Island thru Palm Beach, Lake Worth Beach, and all the way to Delray Beach are MANY great beaches. We like Singer Island, Peanut Island, Lake Worth beach and Delray beach best. You can also take the Tri-Rail train down to Ft. Lauderdale for about $10 and then take Uber or Lyft to the beach and back to the station.
Sightseeing: Check out Trip Advisor. We've been to most of the attractions.
I don't know where exactly you'll be staying or for how long you'll be here so it's somewhat difficult to suggest which of the many attractions to see or I can be more suggestive in this area.
