The Apoxee Wilderness Trail is part of the Grassy Waters Preserve, a 23 square mile wetlands ecosystem that supplies the fresh water to Palm Beach and it's municipalities. There are two port a potties next to the parking lot and no water. The trail is made up of a natural earth

This is a great urban hike in a remnant of the original Everglades. Unfortunately portions of the trail are frequently under water and it is often closed for months at a time due to high water levels.

This is a well maintained nature reserve. Good for observing birds and other wildlife in a natural, but very safe setting. The boardwalks are wheelchair and walker accessible.

Most of the year the trail from the main parking lot gets flooded about 500 yards in. If you can get past that section there are some beautiful hiking trails with abundant wildlife

just wonderful...my only question is why is this place not being maintained? Some of the boards in the walkway have broken perhaps from the summer hurricanes...we saw 4 Alligators, turtles and lovely birds:))
