About
We are a boutique wine shop and wine academy based in the heart of West Palm Beach. Our wines are all personally tasted and selected by a team of sommeliers led by Master Sommelier Virginia Philip. Our offerings span a broad range of prices and palates. We also offer craft beers and sakes. Our wine education classes and tasting draw from the expertise of winemakers, vineyard owners, distributors and sommeliers, and change weekly.

My mother and I shopped and attended a spirits class at Virginia Philip's Wine Shop and Academy last week. Thank you for a polished, informative, and welcoming experience!

According to the Court of Master Sommeliers there are fewer than 150 who have achieved this distinction and only 24 of them are women. Virginia Phillip is one of those women and she has just opened a new shop at 340 Royal Poinciana Way #320, in Palm Beach. The location is fitting for a wine and spirits shop that also doubles as a "teaching facility" for the Academy. Bright, cheerful and understated, the smell of freshly installed oak bottle racks and shelves permeate Virginia's new shop. The shop itself is well-stocked and staff are helpful to those wishing to make every day purchases, or are looking for something special either for a collection or gift.

The real secret however, are the classes and tastings given by Virginia. Well worth an afternoon or evening with family and friends. We attended a corporate event at the shop and it was an incredibly educational and enjoyable evening with Virginia and her staff. Virginia has a unique ability to synthesize a history lesson, discussions of current economics, viticulture, oenology, and the joy of tasting superb wines into an experience long remembered by its participants. Her passion for her area of expertise is present in all aspects of the shop, the meeting room and in her presentations. It is well worth the effort and time to attend her classes either as an individual or as a group event. If you need fine wines or spirits and you're in the Palm Beach area, this shop is a "must."

We've been fans of the wine tasting experiences here for a couple of years. Two weeks ago we attended the Duckhorn evening which was well organized and we learned something. Last night we attended a tasting of the wines of Bodegas Muga from the Rioja Alta region. The tastings are usually scheduled for 6-7pm which we love as we can make a dinner reservation for 7:15pm in the area. The event didn't start until 6:20pm due to a wait for just a few people. When it did get under way, despite the fact that the presenters appeared to have been there for a while, tech issues plagued the presentation by Juan Muga to the point of distraction for him and the audience. With a dinner reservation we felt rushed and really didn't get to learn anything from a man who should have had the chance to give us a fascinating inside track on one of Spain's significant wine houses. It is a disappointment to have to record our negative experiences, but the realty is that this event was poorly run.

Stopped in and no one was in the store. Male worker was on the cell phone :( not much for customer service appeared too busy w/ his phone:( Back room was elegant for the wine class demonstration. Employee did not explain anything about the shop, it has a small selection of wines, but very good quality. Worth a visit, selling wines not there stength.

Discovered this venue recently and have attended two events to taste wines and learn. Organization is excellent and the quality of the wines and speakers has been top notch. The match of the shop and academy is inspired and clearly plays to the proprietor's strengths. If you at all inclined to the ways of the grape, I strongly recommend trying a tasting event here soon.

If you're in the Palm Beach area and a lover of wine, attending a wine class run by Virginia shouldn't be missed. Her shop is brand new and filled with fantastic wines all selected by Virginia, one of the few female Master Sommeliers in the world. We selected a class on wines from USA. Virginia lead us through a tasting of 6 different wines, which was fascinating. She is full of knowledge and as we knew very little about wine from USA, we got so much more out of the wine lists we were presented with during the rest of our holiday.
