The friend I was visiting used to frequent this place with her family as a child. Not having experienced it before I looked it up before I flew in. Upon doing so, I learned that 2020 was the final year they would be operating due to a new Florida law. Since both of us now knew this, we had to make the trip to see the races. It was worth it, and now I can say I saw a bit of history before it faded away.

I cracked up hearing Rusty announced each race (the automated wanna-be-bunny's name that the dogs chased)... because it's my son's name. Our waitress was the BEST and so sweet she even exchanged my plastic wine cup with a wine glass due to my aversion to drinking out of plastic cups. I enjoyed a slice of shared quesadilla as well. I could see that there were some pretty hard core betters there, but I had $20 to blow and so just had fun. I only picked by names and wouldn't you know there was another coincidence besides my son's name...one dog was named part of my name! I did win once and made a fuss because it was such fun. I didn't worry when I lost. I liked how quickly the races were run and the results announced. The dog handlers get quite a workout jogging back and forth; not to mention the greyhounds. They seemed to be normal happy dogs and they jumped around in excitement before the races. That made me happy too.

Good time watching the dogs racing. Rusty looking very tired though! Lots of free parking and very easy access from the 95. Plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. GLTA on your bets.
