They have a large bathroom/changing room and several picnic tables and grills. There are 3 different access boardwalks to get to the beach. This is a guarded beach. No pets are allowed.

There are two parking lots, a bathroom, vending machine, outdoor shower. The path to the beach goes across a bridge through a tunnel of foliage which is just beautiful. The beach has a natural feel to it. The day we were there a wedding was...More

We end up here almost every time we go to the beach. Parking is generally not an issue (unless on season mid day). Beach is wide and clean. Guards on duty, which is nice when the waves are pounding and there is rip currents. Good...More

Dogs are not allowed on the part of the beach that is county park. If you go a little further south, walk between the condo buildings and access the beach. Dogs are permitted there. Be courteous and bring poop bags!

Restaurants near South Beach Park (2 Replies)
Looking for a reasonable priced restaurant near South Beach Park. Not a chain - but a nice, memorable, local place with reasonable prices (food and beer). Appearance is not a factor! On the water would be nice, but not a must have. Any suggestions? Thanks!

The ones that spring to mind I have drank in but not eaten in, however the beer must have been reasonably priced, so here goes. Coconuts, Bierbrunnen, Bar at Days Inn Bahia Cabana, Oasis. Take care at the Bahia Cabana we got the impression that the bartender was making up the prices as she went along because it was obvious that we were tourists, but we may have just been unlucky. If you want to consider chains I can recommend the food at Bubba Gumps (and I never thought I would say that) and...More

Staying near Otter Point vs. South Park (0 Replies)
Looking for advice to stay in Gold Beach. We are a family of five and are looking at houses/condos. We need a kitchen and four beds (so kids don't have to share). I've narrowed it down to one of the larger houses at Ireland's Rustic Lodges (near South Beach Park) and a house on Sandy Drive near the Otter Point State Recreation Site. I'm hoping someone can give insight if either location has advantages -- mainly, what are the beaches like in those two areas? We want to stay someplace with...More

Hello everyone. We will be staying one day in Fort Lauderdale in Holiday Inn Express at 1500 SE 17TH CAUSEWAY. We would like to go to South Beach Park. I see on the map that that SE 17th becomes Seabreeze blv. and goes directly to South Beach. I was wondering if there is any bus service that we can use. We have 4 years old and don't know if she would walk that far. If not, what is the price for taxi? Would you recommend any good restaurant in that aria (Close to the beach or hotel)? Thank...More

A bus ( I think it's #40, but is the only bus on that street , so you'll see it easily ) will run right by your hotel and go across 17th St and up the beach via Seabreeze- no problem. I can't recall exactly where your stop is but should be very close- look for a bus bench or sign along 17th St or ask the hotel desk- they should know. If it is a Friday- Sunday , and even better alternative is the red and yellow Sun Trolley- It goes along 17th St and then heads north along the beach and can be...More
