Boys 7 and 10 and three adults enjoyed a mid morning exploration in the Blue Cypress Conservation area with Captain Tom. With the boys riding shotgun we toured for an hour enjoying the flora and fauna of Central Florida. Captain Tom fielded all the questions of a curious 7 year old mixed in with adult questions in a gracious and knowledgeable way so that all could understand what we were experiencing on the water that day. We were all impressed with the number of gator sightings, the nesting osprey and fuchsia colored frogs eggs! We recommend Captain Tom for a humorous, fun-filled tour of gator hunting.

Captain Tom Was extremely knowledgeable talking about Garcia lake, and Blue Cypress Conservation area. We saw many alligators, big and small. The largest approximately 10 feet and quite a few babies. The headphones worked great and you could hear clearly as he pointed out many of the beautiful birds, turtles, and trees. Tom was able to answer all the questions about the habitat and animals There were many osprey nests The day was picture perfect-a little on the cooler side, but sunshine and clear blue skies. The place was magical and Beautiful. It makes you wonder, why a bird would want to live anywhere else but here! The one thing I especially liked, was that he backed the boat up, and approached a siting from a different angle. So no matter which side of the boat you were sitting on, you got to see the gators and the turtles up close and personal.
Captain Tom was funny, knowledgeable and handled the boat and crew with care.
I definitely recommend - it was great fun for all!

We booked our trip last minute on the recommendation of a friend and this did not disappoint. The boat was clean and in great shape. Our Captain Tom was phenomenal!!!! Seriously, he made the tour. He was informative and humorous, which is hard to do when your audience has their backs to you the entire trip! He made sure to point out everything from the rare trees to beautiful birds and of course the alligators. We were lucky to have a beautiful day to enjoy them breathtaking sights and got to see several alligators. We will certainly be booking this trip again in the future!

Gator Bait AirBoat Adventure at Vero Beach was awesome. Captain Bill took out three couples of 4's (12 total) in his AirBoat midmorning. The day was crisp, the water and sky picture perfect, and the ride through the marshlands exciting.
Capt. Bill was knowledgeable and funny. He named all his wild gator and bird friends as we came up to their habitat. We saw many alligators, osprey, cormorants, heron, egrets, etc. He answered many questions through our headsets...the hour ride was packed with sights and fun.

I'm thinking Captain Tom knows this man-made lake like the back of his hand...and he knows exactly where the gators hang out. He had an impressive knowledge of the wildlife and amused us with his good humor. Garcia Lake used to be a ranch but it seems that the government took it over and turned it into a wildlife preserve. It certainly LOOKS like an everglade. It was really fun going over the grasses and I felt like I was water skiing. What a wonderful experience.

If you find yourself near Vero Beach, I would definitely recommend that you check out Gator Bait. We saw more alligators that I can count. We saw a water moccasin, turtles, and dozens of beautiful birds. I am not sure which Captain we had, but he was knowledgeable, funny and determined to give us the best possible experience. Well worth the time and money.

Great time! Guide was very informative and fun with his commentary. Trip is in my opinion a bit short at 60 minutes for the price ($50 pp ), but the area is full of gators if that what you want to see.
would be a great time for kids as well

We rescheduled from a cold rainy day to a beautiful sunny day at Gator Baits suggestion - it was fantastic. Captain Bill educated all of us on the birds, alligators, water - he definitely knew his stuff. He made it very fun and the time went by too darn quick. Just Do It - promise you won’t regret!

We do not have a 2 hour tour on the airboat. Only 1 hour which is $45.00 per adult and $40.00 per child ages 12 and under. Thank you.

I do not believe the offer 2 hour tours on a regular basis . You would have to call and determine if they would do a private tour for 2 hours. He normally fills the boat or close to it that is why it is priced that way.I am not sure but I believe it was 10 or 12 people in the boat and the seats are stadium style so everyone get to see.

Our tour was in the mid-late morning and was awesome, but I think no matter what time you go you'll get to see many different types of wildlife. It was so much fun!

Is it best to go early on the airboat rides?
Written January 29, 2015
In the winter time late morning because you want to catch the gators out sunning themselves and the wildlife is more active then too.
