This beach is very family friendly. They have covered areas that you can BBQ and eat. Places to kayak. And plenty of beach area. The sand is so soft and white that it looks like snow. Plenty of parking and best of all CLEAN bathrooms!

Fort De Soto is a great place if you're wanting to lay on the beach or bike the trails, but as for the actual fort, there wasn't much to see.

As others have said, there is a Kayak rental location at Ft. Desoto after you turn right toward North Beach. I don't know if they offer pickup or drop off.

Yes, they do have umbrellas and chairs. I think it was $12 for the umbrella and $18 if you wanted chairs as well. We chose to lay out on our towels, but the people next to us rented chairs and an umbrella. The beach was not... More
