Don't miss going down the Hillsborough River! We stayed at Hillsborough River State Park and reserved 2 canoes for 9 am 4 hour trip starting at John B Sergeant. Lamont and the rest of the staff were excellent, equipment in good shape, map helpful. We had 4 who qualified for senior discount on Tuesday. The number of birds, alligators and turtles we saw on the peaceful river was amazing. We only saw one other canoe plus school kids at Nature's School. Birds included Night crown heron, roseate spoonbills, curlew, Woodstork, as well as many Great and little blue herons, Ibis, egrets, hawks, anhinga. Highly recommend this trip.

Canoe Escape provided excellent customer service in person and online. They have the best equipment and provided thorough information for the trip. We have used them multiple times and have highly recommended them to others who have also
been pleased with their service.

This kayak trip was something I wanted to do for some time. It did not disappoint. I arrived without a reservation and was signed up to go in about 5 minutes. I asked if there were any senior discounts and the fellow there said yes and I saved 10%. He said he wouldn't have asked me if I was a senior, so if you qualify don't forget to ask for the discount. I rented a dry bag $3 and got a map and off I went. The rental guy was very nice and informative about where to go and what I might see. He advised me to take my time and enjoy the wildlife and he would pick me up at Morris Bridge in a little over 3 hours. He arrived right on time for the pick up. Masks were required on the van ride back to John Sargeant Park. He cleaned and sanitized the kayaks once we got back. I would highly recommend this place and the trip. I saw lot's of alligators, and so many birds and turtles. I've heard many say they were afraid to kayak where there are Alligators but once you go over the initial jitters you will be fine. I went alone and I was fine . The river trip was awesome. Water levels were very low and there are lot's of tree beaches to paddle around but all doable.

Great trip down the river. We did the 2 hour paddle from Sargeant Park to Morris Bridge Park which was a fairly easy trip. The river was a little low and we had to get out at one point to get unstuck, but I would highly recommend this trip. Lots of alligators and many, many birds, included a bald eagle and a few osprey with their catch.

Our recent experience was perfect as have been all our kayak trips with Canoe Escape. We missed 2020 because they had to shut down but they have re-opened and made changes to the reservation system to make it much easier.

Reserving and signing the waiver online is super easy. The staff is knowledgeable and respectful and customer-focused. We were very impressed with how they are handling safety issues due to the virus.

We have had many fabulous kayak experiences with Canoe Escape and plan to do lots more in 2021 to make up for losing 2020!

This is our favourite place in Florida. I have been three times already and would go again. There is so much wildlife along this river: alligators and birds galore! Most of the gators just lie in the sun, once and a while you will see one swimming or moving into the water from the shore. We paddle the trip from Sargent Park to Trout Creek Park with a stop half way for bathrooms at Morris Bridge Park. The leisurely paddle took just under 4 hours.

I was in Tampa last minute and looking for something to do. I had to cancel a kayak trip at home because of my visit so I thought a kayak trip in Florida would be nice. Canoe escape got me in a boat and on the water in no time. The float was excellent. I honestly lost count of all the wild life and had to stop taking pictures. My friends and family are getting tired of hearing about my trip, so I shared it here instead.

Reserved kayaks via email, waiver and payment.
Office booth closed and locked. No show.
Beautiful setting but disappointing day.

I wanted an trip down the Hillsborough River for my 50th birthday and it was amazing!

The staff was so helpful in making our 85 year old guest comfortable for the trip by providing a back rest. And we had no problems renting an additional canoe when we picked up an extra passenger at last minute.

The float trip was filled with tons of alligator sightings and shore birds. Plenty to see and photograph along the way.

The place was even great about allowing us all the time we needed on the river. A normal 2-3 hour float trip took us about 5 hours as we were geocaching our way down to Morris Bridge!

I look forward to another float trip when I get back in town!

We have paddled on the Hillsboro River many times using Canoe Escape. They are always extremely friendly and professional, all the way from the check in to the pickup. We like to take our guests from up north out on the 4 1/2 mile route from Sargeant Park to Morris Bridge. It is a uniquely Florida experience, which always includes lots of wildlife viewing including alligators, turtles, and a variety of birds.
