About Florida Keys Flats Fishing
Hello and welcome to Florida Keys Shallow Water Flats Fishing. Are you ready to fish the gin clear flats of Islamorada, Key Largo and the Everglades in the Florida Keys? Come on down! I'm an amicable and patient guide who will work hard to make your day on the water a success. I have lived and fished in the Keys for over 38 years and have been guiding fisherman just like you on the flats of the Florida Keys for over 30 of those years. Whether you choose to fish for tailing bonefish and redfish or giant tarpon, I assure you an enjoyable, interesting and exciting day in the Florida Keys. Though I primarily sight fish for these gamefish, we can fish for easier targets as well if your skills are not as high as your expectations. For the novice fisherman, I'll provide friendly fly fishing or light spinning tackle instruction. For the accomplished angler I can help to fine tune your casting skills. Expert? Our game fish should provide quite the thrill and challenge you're looking for.

First class fishing guide! Barry was very transparent while planning the charter. Once out there, his expertise is top notch. He took his time to teach and explain everything. Most importantly, he listened and entertained my son. Highly recommended!

We had such a fun time fishing in the backcountry with Capt Barry! He is extremely knowledgeable of the area and wildlife. We were on fish at every stop catching tarpon, snook, sea trout and others. Highly recommend!

Barry is special. Me and my 12 years son enjoyed so much! He took care of us perfectly and he was the best teaching how to improve his fishing skills to my son.

We had a great four-hour trip out with Barry. I chatted with him beforehand and mentioned that it would be my 7 year-old daughter, 9 year-old son, and wife coming with me. I told him that we did not want to go out hunting huge tarpon or other trophy fish, but we wanted to see some action. He was very polite over the phone and was great in terms of communication with me on the front-end. When we arrived, it was clear that the boat was very clean and he was adhering to COVID standards. The first spot we went to, we caught a couple of mangrove snapper. The second spot did not produce much, but he did take us over to see some huge tarpon in the area. He also explained to us why tarpon come out of the water like they do. He was incredibly patient with my kids and was teaching them a ton throughout the fishing trip. The third spot that we went to was very productive. We caught a ton of schoolmaster, mangrove, blue striped grunts, jacks, etc. We also got to see a sea turtle which was awesome. As we caught fish, he was incredibly patient in teaching my kids proper technique and teaching them all about the fish as we caught them. He even tried to make it into a game of naming all the fish that we caught and seeing who could remember all the made up names. Clearly he was doing this to keep it entertaining and enjoyable for the kids. We learned a ton on the trip and had an awesome time. It was great to be out there with someone who was committed to trying out several spots to find a productive fishing hole, even on a relatively short trip. I have been on several where the effort was just not quite there. I know that not every day is going to be a great fishing day, but it was fantastic that he continued trying different spots and was not stuck on one spot. That effort was huge and his effort to make it kid friendly was also huge. It was also great that he spent so much time teaching my kids about the various fish we were catching. We had an awesome time and I was thrilled that we were able to get out there with him. Could not have picked a better person for keeping my kids entertained.

We had a less than perfect weather condition day and Capt Barry took the time to try different spots and ended up finding a school of Snook in muddy water with 15-20mph winds and current. We needed up catching close to 20 snook, a couple sail cats, a black drum and even a spec trout.
