We did two days of diving, morning and afternoon, during mini lobster season. This is a very busy and lucrative time for the keys however the boat was not overly crowded and it was a great price. Capt Allison was amazing! She is friendly and knowledgeable. You can tell she loves her job. Our dive guide during all 8 dives was Kyle. We were able to limit out thanks to him. He paid attention to the important stuff so we could focus on catching lobster. He would also point stuff out to us. He was laid back and made the dives easier and enjoyable. Everyone on the boat was friendly. Staff felt like family; they were all helpful and accommodating. We will definitely be diving with them again!

Amazing is a severe understatement when describing everything about this dive center. By far, it is my most favorite. My family came down to the Keys for vacation and with scuba diving being our main focus, this dive center gave us everything we wanted and so much more. As unbelievably good as the dive sites were, the factor that made our dives the most fun they could be was the incredible staff both on and off the boat. I wish I could say more about the dive center as a whole, but take my word for it. The diving environment here was as safe and as fun as it could possibly be. If you don’t believe me, go book some dives for yourself. You won’t regret it.

I went on 16 boat trips over the course of 5 days (every trip I was certified to go on) and loved each one. I got to dive with Jack, Mel, Scuba Joe, and Claire, had 3 different captains and loved each and every one of them. The third day they knew me by sight. Each guide has different styles, which I found refreshing. They all treat you as an adult and don’t baby you along since you are a certified diver. They take time to point out cool sea life and love it when you show them things they missed. Now, the reefs aren’t what they were 15 years or more ago, but that certainly isn’t the dive centers fault. They drive home the point of gear control and not touching the reef or wildlife. I went to more than 5 different dive spots and I got to see a lot of cool wildlife and some corral that looks like it is trying to come back. They have a water cooler and chest cooler on board, but don’t stock cups to cup it out of the water or snacks because this isn’t a pleasure cruise. The team does a good job of helping with gear if you need it and getting you on and off the boat. All the staff were super friendly and helpful.

Personal experience and opinion, there is nowhere else I would have wanted to go to get my first Scuba cert. A year ago I was pulled out of the Gulf unconscious and now thanks to my amazing Dive Instructor Mel, a wonderful buddy, the one and only Capt Allison and all the great people at Flakeys I am a certified open water diver! From start to finish it was relaxed, comfortable and fun. The instructors made me comfortable, the education gave me confidence and the experience has given me what I know will be a life long passion. Love these guys and highly recommend them for anyone wanting to get their toes wet in the dive world or wanting to get that next specialty under their belt!
