‘Turn around and let me get a photo of your backside,’ I said to the bartender. She said, ‘Excuse me?’ I guess she assumed a white-haired old man pointing a camera at her indicated that my comment had no lascivious intent. I wanted a photo of the bar’s name, Anclote, on the back of her T-shirt. She laughed and complied, as depicted in the attached photos. When I told her the photo was for my TripAdvisor review, the margarita gained a few ounces☺

The interior has welcomed a/c, but is tiny. Anclote requires social distancing, so few were sitting inside—but no tables were available outside. We enjoyed tangy margaritas at the bar, an excellent respite from the early June heat. That said, there are a selection of freshly made sandwiches and other food items, but we had planned to enjoy authentic Greek cuisine at Hellas in two hours. Opa!☺

I lost an eye in an accident last year. As depicted in the accompanying photo, I obviously made a new friend, One-eyed Jack. Notice that both of us have a patch over the left eye?

When in Tarpon Springs, this is our go to pub for great local draft beer selection. Try the peanut butter blonde from local brewery...don’t let the name fool you... it is awesome as are many of the other local brews. Think of the Anclote Brew as the friendly “Cheers Bar” of Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks...bartenders & wait staff down to earth & always make you feel welcome. Tara, Dusty, & Kelly along with the rest of the crew feel like old friends. Can’t go wrong on their gourmet grilled sandwiches as well. Some weekend nights there is live entertainment.

If visiting the sponge docks, this out of the way stop is a must visit. Nice atmosphere and ice cold adult beverages make for a memorable experience. I didn’t try a sandwich but they looked incredible

It is our 2nd Friday night hanging out with the very friendly locals down at the Sponge
Docks enjoying local draft beers, gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches, & awesome live entertainment. Under new management with Kelly & Bill who continue the tradition of good service, great draft beer selection, & occasional live entertainment. You will get great service with Tara & Stacey...tell them David sent you.

Great place to sit outdoors and enjoy a beer. They had a violinist who was exceptional playing near by.

Nice selection of local brews on tap. They have board games, Nintendo, and sega to play. Hidden in the shops of the sponge docks.

We sat outside with a couple drinks and relaxed. Low key type of place, worth a stop if you’re bouncing around the docks. Kelly was super friendly. We will return.

My friend and I came to Tarpon Springs for a relaxing Sunday afternoon. After walking around for a while, it was time for a beer and we saw a sign that Anclote had a local beer selection. We stopped in to try a local IPA which was great. While there we were there we saw the grilled cheese menu that we had to try. So good! I know Tarpon Springs is known for the greek food, but the variety of grilled cheese made it worth the visit.

Wow! What a fantastic place! The choice of craft beers is outstanding! The interior is friendly and inviting (love to see a place that is so welcoming to all - including the four legged variety!). The patio area is also great to sit, sip and do some people watching. Never have I been in a place that was so welcoming and friendly. The smoked mullet fish dip was simply to die for!

Andrea and Cat (Kat?) have opened a nice place for tasting a lot of different craft beers along with a variety of gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches. We went too early the first time and only had a few beers because they didn't have their official OK to serve food. Today we returned for a fantastic Caprese grilled sandwich and a highly personalized Cuban. They buy fresh bread from a local boutique small batch bakery and seafood is locally sourced. Today we saw the new 60 inch TV in the outdoor dining area which I suspect will be popular with sports fans. They are located inside the historic Sponge Exchange along with traditional tourist shops although many locals shop there. As local residents we with them success and will continue to put them on our special lunch out for a day visit list.
