A lovely shrine and meaningful place to visit and pray. It is a small building but beautifully done. We stayed probably 20-30 minutes and left happy that we had stopped by. It is in an older neighborhood so you have to keep your eye out for it.

A miracle of a shrine.
My husband and son came upon this church by accident.
While on vacation a few years ago we wanted to stop by the main church in Tarpon to light a candle. To our surprise it was locked.
A little old woman walked to our car and said we should visit the church on Hope st. We drove to it and to our surprise we found ourselves in front of the most beautiful church. Resembles so much of the small churches you find in Greece.
The story behind the church is amazing, we visit every time we come.
I'm currently hoping a miracle comes my way for my dad. :)

In August 1991, I was diagnosed with a rare incurable disease.
and I was given 2 months to live. Upon discharge from the hospital, my then fiance (my husband now) took me here to pray.
We were not members of the church but we thought we would come and visit. I am still around and I go there to pray and light candles.
There are a lot of people from all over who come to visit and pray. I got to know the volunteers that take care of the church. They are all Greek and very friendly.
It is a small church with icons and stained glass windows.
It may not be for everyone to visit but I enjoy going there.

I stopped in today with a friend. It is located on a small side road and you would not know it is there unless you were looking for it. A woman was sitting out front, she greeting me in Greek. Im not sure what she said, but she gave me a greeting kiss on my cheek and was sincerely happy to see me, even though I had never been there before. I went inside the small chapel and it was so peaceful. I bought a candle ($1) and said a prayer. The place felt so protective. Its hard to explain, but I will be back. When I left the woman gave me another hug and insisted that I take some Greek crackers with me, I took one and she then put 4 more in my hand and told me that she loved me. It was so sweet and kind. I feel fortunate to have come into her path. She was such a good example of LOVE.

A very authentic little Church built because a miracle was performed after praying to St. Michael. A lovely story. Much like the little churches in Greece. Nice to visit to see how religious Greek Orthodox Christians can be.

Such an interesting and unique story behind this little chapel that a local family built. Take the time to find it and stop in for a quiet moment of reflection.

What I love about this Shrine is that it's beautiful in it's simplicity. The history of this special place is wonderful. It is just one of Tarpon Springs hidden gems.

Quiet, inspirational. A place of hope for a miracle. Very unassuming. A quiet place to pray. Family that experienced original miracles maintains shrine and are there to answer any questions.

Maria: This is not a normal "attraction." It is an active house of worship, a small chapel. The shrine is in the chapel. I visited in mid-June, when many facilities began reopening. That said, Saint Nicholas cathedral was not holding religious services. I live near Orlando and can't find a website that features when the chapel/shrine are open for viewing. It is at 113 Hope Street. Look for the blue cross atop the gable of a small building. Since the congregation is small and this horrid pandemic has reduced the number of visitors, I recommend a donation of as much as your travel budget allows. I discovered a serenity and humbleness not experienced since I witnessed "Giving of Alms" in Luang Prabang, Laos many years ago.
When in Tarpon Springs, it is a 10-minute walk south of Sponge Docks. For dining, I recommend Hellas, at Sponge Docks.

Where can a person park to visit the shrine
Written May 12, 2015
Parking on the street in front of St-Michael's Shrine is a peace of cake, its is a very quiet street and plenty of space.. I have returned twice since I wrote this review and I will be returning again, each time I go, only a few people are present. yesterday I walked from the Sponge Docks. Yes parking off the street is EASY and FREE !
