RHONDA IS AMAZING!
Aug 2020
Rhonda is amazing! She was very gracious and asked about areas to focus on. I really enjoyed the service and felt incredible having the traditional swedish massage.

Great couples massage
Feb 2020 • Couples
We treated ourselves to a midday couples massage and were not disappointed! Donna and Rhonda expertly massaged our knots and kinks in the dimly life and divinely scented room, then finished our lovely experience with Champagne to relax us even more. The entire staff was friendly and courteous, the spa was immaculate, and the little extra touches were much appreciated.

Short Changed

I was the last appointment on a Monday afternoon. Prior to my arrival for an 80 minute massage, I received numerous text messages and calls from the spa reminding me of my appointment and that I should arrive 15 to 30 minutes early to complete paperwork, etc. I arrived well in advance of my appointment and was greeted by a young lady that provided me with a short questionnaire. Afterwards, I was given a quick tour of the facility and taken to the men's area for a robe and instructed to wait in the "quiet" room. There were light snacks and water in the quiet room. I was alone. My appointment was scheduled for 4:00 P.M. At 4:10, the masseuse escorted another guest back into the quiet room and handed her a glass of wine. Several minutes later, the same masseuse came to retrieve me. Apparently, she was the only person working that day and was obviously a bit frazzled. When we got to the massage room she advised me it had "been a busy day" and I was the last customer of the day. So much for ambiance. After discussing the various oil options, she exited the room, and returned a short time later for the massage. Overall, her technique was good, but I got the impression she finished too soon in some areas and she ended up having to repeat areas that she has already completed. Again, she had had a busy day. When she told me she was done and left the room, I couldn't help notice that the small electric clock in the room had been turned off. However, I checked my watch and she had finished precisely at 5:20 P.M. - the end time of the original 80 minutes, had she started on time. I received a 60 minute (at best) massage for the price of 80 minutes. I should have said something at check-out, but felt bad for this poor soul that had to work back-to-back guests with no rest or help clearing the rooms. Management should do a better job scheduling employees because, after all, when employees of a spa are having a rough day, that translates into a bad experience for the guests that are paying for a peaceful and relaxing experience. Needless to say, my experience prevents me from recommending this establishment. I won't be back.

The Good, the Bad and the Awful
Jan 2019 • Friends
So, to start on a positive note....I hosted my sister and daughter yesterday (the day before Gasparilla) for 50 minute massages. My sister said she had a fabulous therapist. My daughter said hers was very good. Mine was OK. As soon as I walked into the massage room, I was immediately hit up with an offer to buy a facial mask, which I declined and found off-putting. My therapist didn't ask if I had any areas to work on or if her pressure was good. She just did her job. As I said, it was OK but not memorable.
The women working the locker room and relaxation room were very hard working and wonderful but overwhelmed by the high volume of clients that day. The heated and furry neck and back warmers they applied felt great.

Now for the bad....The spa appeared to be overbooked because of Gasparilla and a large party was scheduled before us and after us. We literally had to sit in the relaxation room in our street clothes waiting for the laundry to be done and the lockers to be vacated so we could change prior to our appointments. Sorry, but that is not acceptable for an upscale spa located in a boutique, high-end hotel. And, while we received a complimentary glass of wine and there were snacks and water available, it would have been nice to have some hot tea as well (a standard offering at other spas) as the weather has been pretty cold for Tampa this time of year.

Now for the awful....The ladies locker room is the MOST POORLY and INADEQUATELY designed locker room I have ever been in at a spa of this caliber. This was my second time having a massage here and I remember being STUNNED the first time I saw this locker room. That was about 3 years ago and I thought for sure they might have made improvements since then; apparently not! The small number of lockers is located in the hallway as soon as you walk into the room. There is a skimpy curtain between the lockers and the door to the locker room which is the only thing providing some degree of privacy from you and the reception area as you change. There is only one bench to sit on when changing. So, plan on standing up when you get undressed and get into your robe if someone is already sitting on the bench.. There is only one shower but in my opinion the locker room is so UNINVITING that I have no desire showering there. There are two toilets. The larger room with the toilet had not been cleaned and there were dirty robes and NO toilet paper in that room. Again, the staff, while wonderful, could NOT keep up with the pace that day.

I live on Bayshore and noticed that the chocolate shop that used to be next to the spa has closed and is being renovated as more/better space for Berns wines. Clearly, the owners of the Epicurean have made their wine business a priority over their spa business as they could have used this space to expand the spa.

Massage therapists need a little work
Jan 2019
After staying at the hotel and eating at berns the night before we had such a pleasurable experience I couldn’t wait to top it off with a couples massage. The spa is a little on the smaller side but cute. The receptionist rushed us through the introduction....maybe so she could get back to something else. The waiting room was cute with plush chairs and pillows. The massage was ok...the therapist maybe was a little new. I didn’t feel like she actually knew how to give a Swedish massage. It was more like a good rub but missing the trigger points that make a massage great. For the price...you should have top notch therapists if you want to get top price.

Amazing..

My friend and I randomly chose Evangeline spa before our trip to Tampa and it didn't disappoint. Both of our treatments were amazing and our skin feels wonderful. I had a facial that was possibly the most relaxing facial I have ever had. The spa was super clean and the staff were really friendly and helpful.

One of the best priced spas in the States!!!
Jul 2018 • Friends
Literally one of those beat spas in the States. Had an awesome massage and they offer you a complimentary glass of bubbly, wine or scotch after your treatment. Now that is service!
I'd return again.

Spa Day with Mom

We visited as we were staying at the Epicurean next door. I really enjoyed this spa. The people were very friendly and Donna was amazing! I felt so much better after my 90 minute divine indulgence massage! Especially since we'd come in from Orlando after a week-long convention. Donna was super friendly and the massage was GREAT. I was also given a choice of red, white or champagne after my massage. NICE TOUCH! I really enjoyed everything and wish I would have had time to experience the Caudalie facial! Next time, for sure. The only reason I knocked a star off was on the facilities themselves. It's a nice, clean place but the amenities were a little lacking. So it's more of a place you go to receive a treatment but not somewhere you could hang out for awhile. No spa or sauna. They did have a relaxation room but it was on the smaller side. Nothing that would prevent me from going back though. Would definitely recommend Donna!

I endured two Category 5 storms and as a result was displaced from my home in the Virgin Islands. I traveled to Tampa and decided to get a good massage. New to the area, I used TripAdvisor to help me and at first I just wanted to stay in the area closest to my hotel but I am so glad that I ventured out and visited Spa Evangeline.

I had the hot stone with the scalp massage. My therapist (Donna was absolutely AMAZING!!!! She was professional and skilled. I left there feeling not only relaxed but like I was a special guest.

I get massages on a frequent basis and as a result, my appetite for a good massage in a tranquil setting is not satisfied easily.

Keep doing what you are doing and hold on to Donna, she is a gem.
