Not easy to find in Tampa - could be more clearly sign posted. This place isn't what I expected, but may be worth visiting if you're in the area. We saw one other family the... read more

I supposed I was expecting it to be in better shape. I think the money has gone into making her seaworthy for December of this year but the state of her decks, lifeboats and anything on deck is in very bad shape. It needs a lot of money and tens of thousands of volunteer hours if she is ever to... More

My husband is a navy veteran, so we enjoy visiting old ships. There aren't a ton left from WW2 and this one was a Merchant Marine ship. The Merchant Marines don't get a whole lot of recognition for their contributions during the war so I'm glad to see them being shown here. Sadly, the displays on the ship aren't necessarily... More

This was well worth the trip. I thought there was a guided tour, but when we went we made our own tour and were able to walk all over. I wish we did have a guide, or people in areas, to give more history as you walk through. But it was still amazing. Brought my 7 yr old and she... More

Not easy to find in Tampa - could be more clearly sign posted. This place isn't what I expected, but may be worth visiting if you're in the area. We saw one other family the entire time we were on the ship - so not crowded. We happened to go on a cloudy day which was good as it does... More

Enjoyed exploring the ship. It gives perspective on the difficult conditions sailors worked during WWII.

Took my four kids on our stop through town. It was a neat experience to be able to walk around at our leisure and take it all in. Love that it's NOT a guided tour in groups, especially if it's during the hotter months-it was quite stuffy in some areas! Beautiful ship, awesome piece of history!

I love history and especially WWII history. So when we saw the SS American Victory we had to check it out. You can walk through pretty much the entire ship. Every deck and even sit in the guns. The crew's quarters were my favorite though. It really gives you a glimpse of what it was like to be stationed on... More

The American Victory Ship is moored in Tampa Bay at 701 Channelside Drive, very close to Pier # 2 for the Cruise Ships. When you stand on the dock below the American Victory you are amazed at it’s shear size, if you make sure that no modern day Cruise Ship is moored near it!! It is still a very impressive... More

The ship is very interesting but we went on a hot day and the temperature inside the ship was so very hot. But it is a must see.A lot of great history here.

I love history and anytime I can experience it first hand, I'm there. Personal were friendly and we'll informed. Love the period music they had playing. I could almost in vision the crew working and living on board. I took my mother and she is 70 years old and was able to go to the very top. Some of the... More
