High price; low maintenance
Oct 2020
Hadn't played there in a couple of years and tried it again yesterday. The course has always been a challenge for me, but fun to play. (Caution: you can lose a lot of balls in the water, woods, and swamp hazards.) There's not much good to report from my round on Thursday afternoon. The guy in the clubhouse looked puzzled when I told him I was a single without a tee time. I told him to fit me in anywhere - I wasn't particular. He stared at the screen, reading off tee times and how many players were in each. I said that I'd just hit the putting green see if I could hook up. He charged me sixty bucks (!) and off I went. I got off as a single after a reasonable 20 minutes of putting. My cart had no GPS, no divot fill jug, and no club/ball washer. I soon discovered that there was no drinking water on the course and all the tee box ball washers were covered and out of service. I did not see a single maintenance worker. The fairways were hard and there were many weedy areas, flat growing weeds that made for unpredictable lies. The greens were also hard but not in bad shape. The bunkers I saw had only a thin layer of sand and were poorly kept. There were no rakes in the bunkers or on my cart. Some of these circumstances are likely due to Covid19 but still, sixty dollars? I quit after nine holes figuring why make a bad time worse.

Westchase looks to me like a course on the decline. It's mid-October and many courses are wrapping up their preparation for the arrival of snowbirds. Westchase looks like they're not much interested in attracting them. There are other courses nearby that cost less (much) and are in better shape, and that's where I'll be.

Good Location and Friendly Course Design
Jan 2020
Westchase Golf Club has a nice clubhouse, friendly people working there, and a course design that is open and receptive to good shots. The greens were in good shape. This course is in a great location, which is easy to access.

Best course we played in Tampa
Dec 2019
This was the sixth course we played in three days in Tampa. It was well run and right on time. The course was very challenging with a lot of water and sand. The greens were very nice but at least a 12 on speed. Only issue was that there were a few holes that had waste areas in front of the greens and it did not show on the map supplied or on our GPS. Made for some interesting plays.

Love my home course

I live very close so I have played often over the last 2 years. Great course, well maintained, friendly staff. Tough though. Water on most holes and plenty of other places to lose a ball so take extras. Friendly to solo golfers in the afternoons. A little on the pricier side but for the great course that it is, worth it to go especially when the rates drop in the afternoon.

Great Golf

Golf course is very challenging for the average golfer. However, it is in very good condition. The staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Also we were lucky enough to see two baby deer eating on the fairway and a gator by the water hazard

Very nice course with friendly staff

I have played Westchase twice in the past month and have been pleased with the course both times. Layout is very interesting, loads of hazards so accuracy required, greens in great shape as are the fairways. Lots of water in play on many holes. Great afternoon rates. Club house is large but comfortable. Word of caution, if you are a senior and plan to play the Green tees (6000 yards) ask at the pro shop if indeed the green tees are in their dual location or if they’ve been moved up. First time I played the green tees were in their correct spot. Next time they were up with the forward tees and so I had to adjust back to whites.

A Great Round of Golf!
Feb 2018 • Family
My 17-year-old son and I recently played a very enjoyable round of golf at this beautiful facility. Greeting and pro-shop staff were great, as was the starter. The course was in excellent shape for mid-February, although the greens were still recovering a bit from a recent cold snap. The course was well laid out with lots of challenges, including water in-play on 14 holes, but we both had a fantastic round -- one of our best ever. Having just arrived from snowy, bitter-cold Toronto a few days before, we loved the sunny, mid-80's weather and course's beautiful, well-maintained landscaping.

Down in St Pete beach area with a late flight but beautiful day so picked up a golf magazine and found Westchase 19 min from airport. Beautiful course - well taken care of and club house has showers and give towels and soap - so perfect to freshen up after game before flight. Has full grill restaurant and golf club rentals.

Always challanging
Oct 2016 • Friends
You are not going to be disappointed when visiting this club. Nicely maintained, lots of wildlife, challenging holes..... Don't go wrong with one shot, no possibility to bail out, you will pay the price ! As said very challenging and long from the back tees.
I play there EVERY Monday, and that since years......never get enough of it !
Go there, especially if you are a better golfer. Some high handicapped ladies are not able to carry their tee shot over all water on certain holes, no bailing out, this I have to say to not disappoint some of you.
