Great for Kids not a big crowd

I've been going here since I was a kind, I brought my daughter here and then my grandson. Sure, the big venues are cool but kids can get over stimulated and over whelmed there. I always loved coming here to this smaller venue. More peaceful and kids love the one on one and closeness of the animals.

There were many areas that had no animals and it was not a very hot day when we went. There were areas being worked on and completely shut down. If you are planning on taking children here, you might spend your money at a different park. Not much interaction going on where we saw children. The food was limited and... More

Lowry Park Zoo is a Tampa tradition. I've grown up going here with family and school field trips. There are a lot of different kinds of animals to see, lots of different exhibits with zoo workers always around to answer your questions, they sometimes bring certain animals out in exhibit areas and show you how they feed them and some... If you want to see tons of animals in their habitat this is the place to go. They have a Manatee Rehab for injured manatees. There are a animals and birds all over to see. There are animal petting areas, rides for young children and a bit of a water park for the wee ones.

Cannot rave enough about how fine this zoo is. It's a kids-haven too. (Take water clothes for them because there is a splash area.) It's one of the few zoos wherein I don't feel sorry for the animals living in it.

This restaurant is just inside the Zoo’s entrance, the Garden Grille offers air-conditioned dining in a bright, friendly atmosphere. The Garden Grille features juicy hand-pressed burgers hot off the grill, gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches, fresh salads and deli wraps along with the zoo’s take on a Tampa classic, the Cuban sandwich. We enjoyed the grilled chicken breast sandwich and it... More

This place is beautiful. There's really something for everyone here. There are three playgrounds. Two are located in the main parking lot across from the zoo and the third is in the middle of the park. Any one of these is a great place to gets those kids tired. Yes, there are bathrooms on site. It also has paved paths... More

Spend some time in the sun, get some exercise and relax. Pack a lunch and people watch. A great place for family events.

We went to Lowery Park and planned on spending a couple of hours, but ended up spending five hours there! It was a very good zoo with nice natural habitats and lots of cool animals. We loved the manatee and all of the turtles. There was a ton of reptiles too. Parking was free, which is always a plus. We... More
