The Straz Center began as a dream by visionary citizens of Tampa who persevered to bring to reality one of the finest performing arts centers in the nation. It is many things to many people and it’s more than just a building, more than just a performing arts center. It is a presenter, a producer, an educator, a community partner and an economic engine for the Tampa Bay area. It is a cornerstone of the Tampa Bay community. The Straz Center creates a regional economic impact of more than $100 million each year. To our local economy it can mean more tourists staying in hotels, eating in restaurants, shopping in stores and visiting other venues when they are here. At both the local and national level, it provides access to more than 700,000 people of all ages, abilities and cultures each year. It also provides jobs for artists and other professionals who have a passion for the arts and for our mission.

Recently visited for the first time to see The Wizard of Oz. The auditorium is very comfy and has wider aisles than most venues. Parking was easy and close. The special effects on stage were amazing.

Today I went to see the musical Les Miserables, done by the students from the Patel Conservatory and I was delighted with wonderful music and brilliant acting. I do not have any children or relatives in the play, I just loved this musical and thought to give it a try. I could not believe it when it started, the voices,... More

Located in downtown Tampa along the Hillsborough River's eastern banks , the largest performing arts venue south of New York's Kennedy Center is home to a variety of world class performances, from rock and opera to Broadway style shows and big name comedians all year long. A full events calendar offers plenty to see and do throughout the summer.

Secured a parking spot in the garage and took the walk way over to the Straz. Enjoyed a pre-show cocktail before experiencing a memorable performance of Jersey Boys. What a super show! This was my first time at the Straz Center and I hope to be return soon.

I have been going to either the Orlando Opera or the Tampa Bay Opera for the past 24 years. Except for a couple of years after the Orlando Opera closed we have been season subscribers. The TBO has about three operas each season, usually beginning in December or January and ending in March. La Traviata was the second opera of... More

When you want to watch a Broadway quality show, the Straz cannot be beat. Comfortable seating, good sight lines, onsite restaurant, lots of parking lots in the area. The only drawback is the price. An evening for two can easily cost over $200

This is a cultural Arts Center that has everything from Broadway shows to opera. It is a huge auditorium and every time I go the sound is over amplified. They even once blew a speaker. The performances are usually very high quality but the room is way too big and the sound borders on deafening. Parking is always an issue... More

Since moving to St. Petersburg this January, we have seen 4 performances at the Straz--the latest being "Beautiful" the Carole King musical. Everything we have seen so far, has been top notch. And, we lived in Atlanta for many years so attended a lot of shows there, as well as on Broadway. The facility is just excellent, from the valet... More

What an amazing performing arts center. Plenty of parking. One lot was a half a block away for 5.00 the one right next to it was 15. If you get to your show early, the boardwalk is prestine, coctails are served outside and there is a coffee shop there too. Nice to walk around, no shopping, romantic.. bring your camera.
