Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo is home to more than 1300 animals and famous for having one of the most beautiful, tropical zoological settings in the world. The Zoo brings together animals and visitors to create unforgettable, natural connections. Guests get closer to wildlife than ever before by touching a giant tortoise, feeding a giraffe, getting nose-to-horn with an Indian rhino, hand-to-fin with slippery stingrays and more! Families can also splash in water play areas, feel thrills on rides and take in educational shows. Love manatees? The Zoo is the only place in Tampa where guests can see Florida manatees year round. At the David A. Straz Jr. Manatee Hospital, the Zoo’s veterinary and animal-care staff treat sick, injured and orphaned manatees, and return them to the wild after rehabilitation. The Zoo also cares for the most diverse group of Florida wildlife anywhere, and has won numerous awards for animal preservation.

I'm not a fan of animals being kept in cages for our entertainment; however, this place has gone to a wonderful degree of haking the animals live in a most comfortable natural environment.

Enjoyed a morning visit to the zoo and used the Tampa Bay City Pass so found it good value. Animals were in nice enclosures that enabled you to see them. The zoo was nicely laid out and easy to walk around.

The zoo is set very nice, the dinosaur exhibit was there when we visited, it was very enjoyable. The zoo personnel are knowledgeable and friendly. Enough shade to cool down, plenty of food chances, restrooms and activities.

My favorite part was feeding the giraffe 😀 It was certainly a hot day, but we found enough shaded areas to push through. Spent three hours and saw everything. Didn't get to see any shows. Make sure you ask for a map. We weren't given...More

Of all the Zoos I have visited with my son we have voted this one our favourite because this was one of the most interactive we have visited. We fed the Stingrays and Parakeets for $5 which I did not mind because the money is...More

Being from the Tampa Bay Area, I recall when this was an award winning zoo that families could enjoy. We held annual passes for years even as the rides and costs started increasing. We haven't been to the zoo in 3 years. Today, we only...More

Enjoy this very clean and fun zoo. The seasonal displays are very attractive for children. We enjoy visiting the Asian and Primate areas. My husband likes big cats, they have clouded leopard, tiger and Florida panther. Manatee viewing is excellent, I don't enjoy the reptile...More

Lowry Park is excellent for families with younger children. In addition to easily viewable animal enclosures, there are plenty of kid-friendly activities. However, given Florida weather, there are entire months of the year where parts of the zoo are almost unbearable due to no shade....More

You gotta see it at least once when visiting Tampa. It's nicely laid out. The themes are cohesive. It was clean, no litter or grime. The day went it wasn't particularly crowded, so it was easy to get wherever we wanted, quickly. There were no...More

I would plan 4 hours and really enjoy as many of the scheduled shows as possible. Grab a bite to eat while there so hunger wont drive you away early. Parking is free & easy with a minor walk compared to other parks... More
