Our family held a pre-wedding reception here at one of the covered picnic areas. Gorgeous setting that offered folks of all ages (93 to 6 months) a chance to do whatever they wanted and still be part of the family gathering; kickball, slow beautiful walks, chatting with those you haven't seen in a while, fixing lunch, having an enjoyable meal... I live in Tallahassee, and this is one of the best places to go in the Spring Time! It's beautiful, lively and gorgeous.

A nature/garden lovers paradise. Come early on hotter days to beat the afternoon heat on the trails, but you can stay and enjoy the afternoon sitting in the shaded areas of the garden and lake areas. Check ahead for the hours to tour the house. The park and picnic areas have nice shaded areas and clean bathroom. You can easily... More

I love to walk these gardens by myself (to think) or with a good friend (to chat). The grounds are meandering and beautiful and sometimes there are unexpected nooks and crannies. It's a calm, sweet place to simply be.

Maclay Gardens is a beautiful place to visit in the spring if you enjoy walking through the grounds that are loaded with flowers in bloom. Good place to go picnic with the family and swim.

It was a nice place to visit. There is a lot of walking so if you are in bad shape, its a decent place as long as you take your time. Its a really nice garden you lose track of time.

Had an hour between meetings so went to the gardens to walk. Everything was beautifully kept as usual. It was a sunny warm day but the place was not too busy so had room to wander in your own thoughts. Lovely benches to sit and watch the trees sway.

This is just off interstate 10 on our way to Orlando from Panama City. It is so peaceful here with nice brick walkway, mature oak trees creating a canopy. There were also lots flowing trees and manicured grounds overlooking a lake. There is a house where you can visit from January to April. I suggest you bring food and picnic... More

My 8-year-old son and I visited the Maclay Gardens State Park to break up a long drive home because Mom was getting sleepy and road weary. We visited the boat ramp and the playground, and then headed over to the gardens for an afternoon stroll. The gardens are absolutely lovely and serene. We walked and took pictures and explored the... This park had a couple of sections. One area had picnic tables, a swimming area, a boat launch, and a dock where a kayak, paddle board or canoe could be put in the water. This area also had signs warning that alligators could be present. I would definitely want to know how they keep them out of the swimming area.... More
