I have been fishing with Dexter since 1995 every year except one year of Covid. There is not a harder working guide I've ever met. He can spot fish for miles and poles to the intercept point with precision. When the fishing is tough he relies on his years of experience and figures out where they are and what may make them eat. There have been many times that we are the only boat in the area that has hooked fish. Dexter is a true enthusiast, teacher, friend and gentleman.

Dexter was amazing. I had never fly fished on the ocean before and he was a great teacher and very patient. Gave direction and then was quiet ti let me learn as I went. Had dozens of great casts to HUGE Tarpon. Just an amazing day! We never stopped except for a brief moment during a rainstorm. Got more than my $s worth and you get what you pay for…venmo process was easy and set up well. Best fishing trip ever! Highly recommend Dexter.

I fished 2 days with Captain Dexter in early April. We fished out of Key West Marina which was very convenient. I found him to be very knowledgeable. The weather conditions were not great but he was able to put me on fish both days. He has top of the line fly fishing gear and a nice flats boat. He was very professional and a very nice guy. I will definitely fish with him again.

Capt Dexter was amazing!!! We fished the morning (father and son), and afternoon (mother and daughter-in-law) and despite our inexperience with fly-fishing, Capt Dexter was patient, a phenomenal teacher and got us on loads of tarpon within minutes of our departure from Geiger Key marina. Would recommend him to anyone and will fish with him each year we visit.

When I first emailed Captain Dexter to ask him if he was available the week my father and I we were planning to be in the Keys, he responded within a few hours to tell me yes. I was really impressed—not simply with his attentiveness, but with his thoroughness. He gave us all the information we needed, from what gear we'd need, what gear he'd provide, and what fish would be running that time of year. From that first email it only got better.
Being on the water with Captain Dexter is like spending time with an old friend. He is exceedingly friendly and makes you feel at home immediately. He is also a master at his craft, and in the case of my father and I, a wonderful teacher. While we've fished many, many times in our lives, we didn't have much fly fishing under our belt. Captain Dexter showed us a wealth of knowledge, and effortlessly got us up to speed in no time.
When it comes to the Keys and the flats, Captain Dexter's knowledge is second to none. He's been fishing the area for decades and it's immediately apparent that these waters are his second home. On the very first day he put us on fish right away, something that would happen many, many more times throughout our three day trip. We saw every kind of fish that was around, from tarpon to permit to bonefish to baracuda, and we had shots at all of them. And we were able to travel a pretty good amount around the keys, seeing parts of the Keys that many don't get a chance to, and which were exceedingly beautiful and full of wildlife including sharks, manatee, and sea turtles, among others.
I can't say enough good things about Captain Dexter. He is a great person and an amazing fishing guide. Our time on the boat was nothing but 100% fun. I can't wait to go back and fish with him again.

Captain Dexter provided an outstanding fishing experience for myself and a good buddy. He is extremely flexible and will tailor the trip to your interests and ability. We had pretty much no experience with fly fishing so we suggested a light tackle experience. It was a windy day yet he put us on the fish in comfortable settings. While not tarpon season he put us in front of some resident tarpon in a canal. This was. A little strange like fishing from a dock. Anyway we did see tarpon but none would hook up. Also we blue to see. Mantel up close. Next we moved out to a channel and must have caught 30 fish ranging from small mangove snapper, to a larger red snapper, multiple jacks and blue runners, and nearly landed a large black tip shark. We asked for some fly fishing lessons so he took us to a wind sheltered flt nod showed us some basic techniques. We re now inspired to learn some more nd bring some skills back for our next trip. Last stop was casting for barracuda along the flats and had some great hookups landing two large barracuda. A great day of fishing at a time of season when sport fish really weren't prevalent and the weather a little iffy. The Keys are beautiful waters and Captain Dexter Simmons provided a gret experience to see and do it justice. I would use him again and highly recommend him to others.
