Lovely & almost private!

Different than other beaches in southern Florida. I'm told these rocks are petrified coral - a consequence of lowered sea level over thousands of years. Very cool! And, knowing the history of the pirate Gilbert makes it even more interesting! We really enjoyed the hour or so we spent here. Just beautiful!

Perfect beach for photos

A perfect place to watch the sun ride. The water is perfectly blue, the limestone rocks make for gorgeous photos, and it’s easy to get too.

Winter visit.
Feb 2020
We visited on a cool, windy, February, sunny day. It was quite empty as the water was cold and full of Man Of Wars, but it was beautiful and not crowded. I would like to see what this area is like in the summer time. The limestone rocks are unusual, but I would say hazardous for young kids to climb on or try to swim near. Be careful of rock poking through the sand.

secluded and beautiful

how can a beach feel secluded on Hutchinsons Island? We were the only ones there besides a man painting a view of the horizon. There is a House of Refuge museum by the parking lot (free parking) but we enjoyed a long walk along the beach instead

Amazing rocky shores and breaking waves at Ross Witham Beach

This is a beautiful and quiet beach near the southern tip of Hutchinson Island. A must see for anyone visiting the Treasure Coast.

Very unique beach with limestone rocks

Unusual place that is not well known but a very cute morally nag place. The love nesting rocks there are like sculptures to hat each person vie s differently. There is a peace here that I perceive and not that many people and a nice sandy base that is comfortable. To be at. That and a free pass on money make it a foto spot

Not your typical Florida Beach
Mar 2017 • Friends
Witham Beach is located adjacent to the historic House Of Refuge on Hutchinson Island. This beautiful beach is made of large chunks of Anestasia Limestone that are fun to explore. On low tide you can walk on the sand in front of the limestone which at 8-10 feet high will towers above your head. Take a close look at the face of the limestone and see if you can spot some intertidal creatures - periwinkle snails, limpets, barnacles, chitons, sea anemones and a variety of algae just to name a few! On high tide, enjoy the spectacle of waves crashing against the rock and water shooting into the air through blow holes in the rock!

NOT MUCH
Feb 2017 • Solo
A small beach with many large limestone boulders. Sparsely attended. A good place to lie in the sand or take a dip if you want some isolation, though there might be non-beach groups touring the adjacent refuge house.

Family beach

This beach is named in honor of one of the town's local legends. Ross Witham was the original Turtle man and because of him, we have the Save the Sea Turtles program.

Very nice place

Located on Hutchinson Island and well-known for its exposed section of the Anastasia formation composed of interbedded sands and coquina limestones (OK I was a geology major once upon a time). It's named after a local environmental activist who worked to save sea turtles. Very nice place
