I don't know if any of Miami Beaches' colorful characters drove to the elite island residences along this historic causeway, but it's fun to think they did.. and sure SOME must have!! The Causeway is low to the water and connects a series of small residential islands, some of which are gated. (On a different day, take one of the water tours from downtown Miami and see these residences up close from the water side..very worh it). Anyway, the Causeway has been present for quite a while its elegant architecture and palm trees should be visited at least once. It is the best connector from the mainland if you are aiming for the northern part of Miami Beach and drops you off right at Lincoln Road. A bit narrower, though, than other bridges but, generally, less heavily used.

Early morning jog from Miami Beach to toll booth and back! Skate or ride your bike. It's a great trail. The tolls are expensive so there won't be as much vehicular traffic as in other roads in Dade County. You'll enjoy the views and diversified architecture.

This very old bridge takes you from Miami to Miami Beach. It has nice architecture features but , not exactly world class.

Of the many causeways crossing beautiful Biscayne Bay this is the least grand but probably the "cutest" of them all. Starting just north of downtown Miami (on Trip Advisor for some reason it's mistakenly listed under South Miami) this two lane toll road crosses several manmade islands until arriving in South Beach. On the islands are many impressive (and expensive) homes and gardens. One of the best ways to experience the causeway is either on foot or preferably on bicycle, the gorgeous tropical views of homes, boats, and the bay are particularly nice in the early morning or around sunset. Definitely a short but most scenic way to travel between the mainland and Miami Beach. Just south and north are two other causeways that also provide beautiful views but on a less intimate scale...those would be the MacArthur Causeway (hwy 395) to the south and the Julia Tuttle Causeway (hwy 195) to the north. If you have the time my advice as a local would be to try to take all three of these causeways at some point or another so as to get different vantage points of Miami's famous skyline and Biscayne Bay.

This bridge connects Miami Beach with Miami through the islands. It provides a great alternative to using the McArthur Causeway and it gives a great view of the homes and beautiful oceanfront sights. It is worth driving by it.

Short drive and nothing truly special about the bridge itself. The views are nice, and it is always enjoyable to see the water in South Florida.

This bridge has been recently repaired and has regained its former luster. It is a great place to walk early in the morning as well as when the sun is setting.

A different route to Miami Beach, very nice scenery way - and it is toll road. You'll see nice houses and the bay off course.
