About
As the name suggests, Siesta Beach is a great spot for a lazy and relaxing day in the sun. Lay on its cool, white, and powdery sand, or take a dip in the crystal clear waters. The kids will love collecting the beautifully shaped shells, too. And don't about the kids—there are lifeguards on duty. While there aren't many beachside food options, you can head to the nearby cafes and oyster bars.
Get a beachfront condo to make the most of your stay, or visit for the awesome sunset views on an e-bike tour of Siesta Key. There's even a Siesta Beach drum circle on some days.

From the main entrance all the way to the north of Siesta Key, the beaches and water can’t be beat. There are multiple entrances to the beaches along the way. I stayed at a rental house by entrance #10 . Great spot as it wasn’t as crowded as near the main entrance further south. Lots of folks tend to be on the beach near sunset, which I recommend experiencing at least once.

We have been spending winters on Siesta Key for past 20 years and have seen the explosion of growth and traffic on the key. Months of March and April are awful for traffic and is getting worse. If you are a beach person be aware there are breezes and some gusts up to 20-30 mph almost every day during the months of January-April. The increase on rental prices also have exploded plus you pay 12.5% tax on top of the rent and this is soon to go up to 13.5%.

White powder sand because this sand is from quartz not coral. The water has more waves and was beautiful. Parking was limited so either get here early or find a place that has offers parking and a day pass for one price. People ask is it worth the drive and yes, it is worth the drive! The three teens I drove with asked why we didn’t get a hotel in this area instead of St. Petersburg. I will be back alone

Over Rated very small amount sculptures. Around 12 sculptures that are being worked on day 2. We've been to many sand sculptures contest around the country, they are usually free. Siesta key charges 8 - 10 per person. Parking is impossible had to pay a 15 dollar donation to a local church. Not worth it

It was our first time visiting Siesta Beach and it exceeded our expectations! My wife and parents visited on a Tuesday in November at 10AM and parking was still available. Despite the sun being strong, the unique sand had a cool feel to it, and doesn’t heat up (no burnt feet bottoms!) When it came to renting beach chairs, Keith was incredibly helpful and kind. My father is a veteran and they had special discounts on chairs and umbrellas for those who have served, so be sure to ask if you’re a veteran. Thank you again Keith for the warm welcome and the help!

#1 Go Early. If you want a free parking spot and a short line, arrive early. On the Friday before Memorial Day, we arrived around 9:30 AM. Found a spot very easily. It appeared that by 10 AM most of the parking spots were taken. On the Sunday of memorial day we arrived by 9 AM. There was already a very short line but we were able to get in and find a spot. It appeared that all parking spots were taken by 9:30 AM or you had a line to wait in before you got in. there are a few churches and establishments in the area that rent parking spots that are also a short walking distance to the beach.
#2 Good Amenities. I did not personally use these but I did see public toilets, a snack bar, grills in a shaded area, outdoor showers to wash your feet. There are also 6 beach volley ball courts.
# 3 Rentals. Boucher Brothers is on the beach. You can rent one chair for $20, one umbrella for $20, or two chairs with an umbrella for $50. Note that is umbrellas are extremely sturdy and they use a drill to put them into the sand. You can also rent a small cabana for $35.
# 4 it’s clean and beautiful. They clean the beach each morning. The sand is very fine and white. You can see your feet when you’re standing in the water. We were there memorial day weekend and we saw very little seaweed.
#5 it’s busy. It’s a beautiful beach and everyone knows it. Know that there will be a lot of people. If you prepare knowing this, you will have a great time.

Angel and RAF provided services that surpassed expectation. They were able to anticipate our needs and knew what was needed to make an optimal experience. They made a normal beach day feel like a vacation.

If you like crowds that rival Times Square on New Years Eve in NYC, then this might be the place for you. If you like a more laid back, peaceful beach atmosphere, stay far away from Siesta Key. I'm shocked it is ranked #1. My guess is that they pay for this #1 ranking. We recently visited the West coast of Florida and visiting Siesta Key, Clearwater Beach, St. Pete Beach, Nokomis Beach, Venice Beach, Anna Maria Island, Sanibel and Captiva. Siesta Key falls at the bottom of my list of all the beaches we visited. It was so crowded that you could reach out and touch your neighbors. Loud music and cigarette/marijuana smoke wafting in the air. Chairs and umbrellas packed in so thick you couldn't even see the water. The public parking lot was filled by 10 AM and we had to pay $45 to park in a private lot. The walk from the parking lot to the beach was VERY long. There were so many people in the water that it was like navigating through rush hour traffic to get out towards the sand bar and away from everyone. It looked like a giant bathtub. I can only imagine how disgustingly germy the water likely was. Yuck! I will never be back. Truly a nasty little beach. Sure, it has pretty sand and water....but who can see it with thousands and thousands of beachgoers on the beach trying to find their little patch in the sand.

Get here early for better parking. It can get busy by mid morning/early afternoon. They do have beach rentals for chairs, umbrellas but that gets expensive so definitely bring your own. The sand stays nice and cool. Down by the beach the sand is hard so it's great for runners and bikers. Don't forget sunblock! If you get food or bring food make sure to keep it close. The seagulls go crazy and will take it right out of your hands! Keep your eye out for sea life! I was able to see a couple of dolphins first thing in the morning!!

I think its about 3 hours and 30 minute drive one way...seems like a long time to be in the car for 1 day....that's about 7 hours total.... but hey that's up to you.
We are a family with 2 kids ages 6 and 9 travelling from London. We are planning 6 nights in Disney world and 4 nights around Siesta beach. Any thoughts on the itinerary please? Anything you would suggest?

Rent a boat at a Marina for a half a day or full day it is very easy to navigate the boat the kids will LOVE it, its near captain Curts restaurant, also if you want to try a great Rum its called Siesta Key Rum, its made in Siesta Key and you can do a quick tour of it and try some samples its located about 15 mins north of Siesta keys also you can use the free trolly during the day at night they have a shuttle van that you pay for you tip the driver as you're getting out, its cheap and easy to get around, the beach is 99% quartz which means its a beautiful white sand that never gets hot which means you can walk bare footed on the beach and your feet will NOT get hot Sunday evening before sundown on the local beach they have a bunch of people that get together and play the drums definitely worth checking out it sounds really cool and its right on the beach and its a beautiful sun set and its free

Like others have stated, there are signs along the street letting you know that the Trolley stops there. You may have to wait a little bit. It is the best way to get around especially in the crowded areas.

Hi, so sorry I don't know the answer since we walked or took the free / or "give a tip" shuttle everywhere. Down town there seemed to be lots of parking in stores fronts / restaurants and there is a big lot near the public beach. I'm not sure if it is free or not.
