About
As the name suggests, Siesta Beach is a great spot for a lazy and relaxing day in the sun. Lay on its cool, white, and powdery sand, or take a dip in the crystal clear waters. The kids will love collecting the beautifully shaped shells, too. And don't about the kids—there are lifeguards on duty. While there aren't many beachside food options, you can head to the nearby cafes and oyster bars. Get a beachfront condo to make the most of your stay, or visit for the awesome sunset views on an e-bike tour of Siesta Key. There's even a Siesta Beach drum circle on some days.

Louis in particular was hands down so attentive and helpful towards my needs and what I wanted with my family and a few friends. Would definitely visit again, as soon as possible.Visited February 2024Traveled with friendsWritten February 14, 2024

They let us know on what and when things were shaking here. Great people to deal with. Edwin and company will be highly regarded in our eyes. - dpetrowskeBelleville, Illinois161 contributionsBeautiful BeachOur goal was to see this #1 beach in Florida. We were surprised! They have over 850 parking spaces (per what I read) in a really nice parking lot. The parking lot was that of an amusement park. They even had cute sea turtle signs with numbers so you could find your car. The beach is very long and we entered through the main entrance. Restrooms were clean and right there at the entrance. After taking a picture by the sign it is actually quite a walk to the water's edge. We were there just to stroll along not for sunbathing or spending the entire day. Every parking space was filled you had to wait for a space to open up and this was on a Wednesday in February. The size of the beach is massive so even with that many people it was not crowded. The area we were in had 4 lifeguard towers. The beach was clean and the funniest thing was they had spots by the towers where you could have food delivered. The parking and entrance are free. Cannot believe they are offering this for free. Would recommend to those who love the beach.Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 8, 2024

The beach is second to none, and there's a great variety of place to stay. Ian at the chair rental was Outstanding! He went out of his way to get us set up quickly. We’ve been to many private beaches and the service was never this good. - mike S1 contributionBest way to spend the day at the beach! This was a fantastic way to spend the day at the beach! It also reserves a spot at Siesta Beach for you which is half the battle at this beach! 2 day beds, 2 lounge chairs, and 2 low chairs were perfect for the 7 of us. Gave us some wiggle room with a great shade option when the sun was too much. The shades were great because they were t going anywhere in the wind we had. Fantastic options/combinations available without any of the hassle of setting up your spot at the beach! Will definitely do this again! Keith, Blake, & Matt were awesome and helpful, especially when 2 of our chairs were gone before we got to our spot.Visited March 2024Traveled with familyWritten March 25, 2024

- mommaof4wife2rWestfield, Indiana186 contributionsBeautiful despite the cold weatherThis beach is a must if ever in south Florida. I had a short sabbatical and visited the area, in January, when the weather was very cold and rainy for 3-4 days. Despite the weather, I made my way to the beach each day for walking, praying, and just sitting. The beach is very deep and full of pure white sand that is powdery. Everywhere around the beach was parking, on the street or at the park.Visited April 2024Traveled soloWritten April 5, 2024

This beach always gets top ratings by multiple independent racers as well as the general public and for good reason. It is a beautiful beach. It is broad. There is a gentle slope into the water. It is incredibly soft sand— so soft that you can barely tell if it gets into yous shoes. We were glad to see that the beach did not suffer a lot of damage from the hurricanes. Get to the beach early during peak season and especially March, as parking becomes an issue.

From the main entrance all the way to the north of Siesta Key, the beaches and water can’t be beat. There are multiple entrances to the beaches along the way. I stayed at a rental house by entrance #10 . Great spot as it wasn’t as crowded as near the main entrance further south. Lots of folks tend to be on the beach near sunset, which I recommend experiencing at least once.

We have been spending winters on Siesta Key for past 20 years and have seen the explosion of growth and traffic on the key. Months of March and April are awful for traffic and is getting worse. If you are a beach person be aware there are breezes and some gusts up to 20-30 mph almost every day during the months of January-April. The increase on rental prices also have exploded plus you pay 12.5% tax on top of the rent and this is soon to go up to 13.5%.

100% tourist trap. Literally almost 2 miles between beach access on the gulf side. Roads marked as public on Google maps are gated and guarded. Is it too much to allow a path for us scummy tourists to actually get to the beach that is 400 yards away without making a procession out of it and needing to pay/tip for a ride to 1 of 2 crowded beach accesses a mile away? None of the restaurants we have been to were any good and had terrible service. Serving frozen fish and chips at a restaurant that is literally on the gulf? This place is a joke. Go elsewhere.

Over Rated very small amount sculptures. Around 12 sculptures that are being worked on day 2. We've been to many sand sculptures contest around the country, they are usually free. Siesta key charges 8 - 10 per person. Parking is impossible had to pay a 15 dollar donation to a local church. Not worth it

White powder sand because this sand is from quartz not coral. The water has more waves and was beautiful. Parking was limited so either get here early or find a place that has offers parking and a day pass for one price. People ask is it worth the drive and yes, it is worth the drive! The three teens I drove with asked why we didn’t get a hotel in this area instead of St. Petersburg. I will be back alone

I grew up on this beach in Sarasota, FL. It has saddened me to watch it turn into such a tourist toilet now and locals just cannot enjoy going like before. It is just not fun or convenient to go there anymore. The only time you can truly go there and not be pushed out or crowded out by unruly, disrespectful, sometime drunken idiots...mostly tourists or part timers...is during storms.

It was our first time visiting Siesta Beach and it exceeded our expectations! My wife and parents visited on a Tuesday in November at 10AM and parking was still available. Despite the sun being strong, the unique sand had a cool feel to it, and doesn’t heat up (no burnt feet bottoms!) When it came to renting beach chairs, Keith was incredibly helpful and kind. My father is a veteran and they had special discounts on chairs and umbrellas for those who have served, so be sure to ask if you’re a veteran. Thank you again Keith for the warm welcome and the help!

#1 Go Early. If you want a free parking spot and a short line, arrive early. On the Friday before Memorial Day, we arrived around 9:30 AM. Found a spot very easily. It appeared that by 10 AM most of the parking spots were taken. On the Sunday of memorial day we arrived by 9 AM. There was already a very short line but we were able to get in and find a spot. It appeared that all parking spots were taken by 9:30 AM or you had a line to wait in before you got in. there are a few churches and establishments in the area that rent parking spots that are also a short walking distance to the beach.
#2 Good Amenities. I did not personally use these but I did see public toilets, a snack bar, grills in a shaded area, outdoor showers to wash your feet. There are also 6 beach volley ball courts.
# 3 Rentals. Boucher Brothers is on the beach. You can rent one chair for $20, one umbrella for $20, or two chairs with an umbrella for $50. Note that is umbrellas are extremely sturdy and they use a drill to put them into the sand. You can also rent a small cabana for $35.
# 4 it’s clean and beautiful. They clean the beach each morning. The sand is very fine and white. You can see your feet when you’re standing in the water. We were there memorial day weekend and we saw very little seaweed.
#5 it’s busy. It’s a beautiful beach and everyone knows it. Know that there will be a lot of people. If you prepare knowing this, you will have a great time.

Is the village town of Siesta Key Florida handicap accessible? I've seen photos that look like you have to go up a step to enter restaurants and shops. My mother uses electric scooter due to heart condition and can not go up unless flat or ramp. What about the beach, did they ever improve access for wheelchairs and scooters? Thank you so much for any advice you can give.

You can go part of the way to the water but the rest of the way is sand
It’s a very big beach
Some of the shops in town are wheelchair accessible
I wish I could be of more help but it is a beautiful beach and a nice town very close by

A can you legally wear thong bikini for men and women in or around st. Augustine Florida beaches?

If there is any ordinance banning thongs, it is not enforced at Siesta Key near Sarasota Florida. I see many women and a growing number of men in speedos and even some in thongs. Women are not allowed to go topless here, but they can wear any kind of bottom. I've seen extreme thongs with only strings in back and a tiny triangle in front.
I'm not sure about St. Augustine, but for many years Daytona Beach to the south has been the same as Sarasota is now--almost anything goes at the beach short of topless. I suspect St. Agustine is like Daytona now.
If you want a nude beach south of Daytona, Playa Linda Beach near Titusville is effectively a nude beach, but closed during rocket launches.

Rent a boat at a Marina for a half a day or full day it is very easy to navigate the boat the kids will LOVE it, its near captain Curts restaurant, also if you want to try a great Rum its called Siesta Key Rum, its made in Siesta Key and you can do a quick tour of it and try some samples its located about 15 mins north of Siesta keys also you can use the free trolly during the day at night they have a shuttle van that you pay for you tip the driver as you're getting out, its cheap and easy to get around, the beach is 99% quartz which means its a beautiful white sand that never gets hot which means you can walk bare footed on the beach and your feet will NOT get hot Sunday evening before sundown on the local beach they have a bunch of people that get together and play the drums definitely worth checking out it sounds really cool and its right on the beach and its a beautiful sun set and its free

Like others have stated, there are signs along the street letting you know that the Trolley stops there. You may have to wait a little bit. It is the best way to get around especially in the crowded areas.
