Great New Men's Store
Jan 2020
I stumbled upon a brand new men's store on Palm Ave called Greiner's. My husband and I had been looking for an upscale men's store without driving to Tampa. The staff is very friendly and even offered to have a pair of pants custom made for us. If you are in Sarasota you must stop by and check this store out.

NOT WORTH A SPECIAL TRIP BUT OK
Aug 2019
Really?????? It is an OK location. A few art galleries and hair salons. The best part of Palm Ave is at Main St. There you have a great bookstore called Book One and the Epicure and Classico restaurants. Both of these restaurants are worth the visit. Continuing on is the parking garage and the new Art Ovation hotel. At the other end of Palm Ave are a few empty storefronts and an overrated Italian restaurant.

Historic Avenue
May 2019 • Friends
In Sarasota today, Palm Avenue is the center of upscale shopping, dining and entertainment. It is located near the Bayfront Park area, and it is divided by Main Street into South Palm Avenue and North Palm Avenue. But basically, it is just one good-looking avenue, famous for its luxury.

About a century ago, it was also an upscale area. Where now we can see shops, boutiques, galleries, condos - there used to be a grand Mira Mar Hotel, very classic-looking, that of course was quite popular with well-off vacationers. Then (around 1920s) its popularity declined, and it was turned into two story apartments. Today they are still apartments, restored and renovated. In their exterior architectural design however, some distinct features of the old hotel are still retained.

Beautiful palm trees line up the both sides of Palm Avenue, and the vehicles parked there remind us that we are in the 21st century.

Great walking area for shops, restaurants, and art galleries
Oct 2018 • Solo
I lived in Sarasota over a decade ago and walked to this area a lot. There are several very nice restaurants, some excellent art galleries (a little pricey), and many shops within a few blocks from the corner of Palm Avenue and Main Street. Also, this area is just a short walk to the waterfront and marina.

art walk was a bust for us
Jun 2018 • Couples
Made a special trip down for the art walk as who doesn't enjoy a good gallery hop? Most of the galleries were closed, one large one was reserved for a private party, and the ones that were open were full of people who thought the world of themselves but were too good to even get out off the doorway they were blocking even after we said excuse me please. Some interesting art but all in all an unpleasant experience.

Best, Luxury Shopping in Sarasota!
Feb 2016 • Couples
Visited Palm Avenue to check out the many galleries & shopping. There are antique shops, art galleries, designer boutiques, antique rugs, designer home décor, custom jewelry, gourmet foods, hair & nail salons, as well as restaurants. I recommend visiting this historic street to find something different. There are no chain stores or restaurants, everything is unique and it is great place to find something different.
