Enjoyable walk
Feb 2021 • Couples
My husband and I went for a 1.6 mile walk on the trails through the park. There is a nice variety of wooded and trails by small lakes or rivers. Markings aren’t that great - but easy to get around. We saw some turtles and many birds. Nice spot - but not much parking - especially on a weekend.

Good Walking Park
Feb 2021
This is one of the very best walking parks in Sarasota. It is of decent size and the walks are through nature. The trails are well plotted, in that they manage to meander through nature throughout even though this is a narrow park. Quite good for a level ground hour long brisk hike. No complaints! BTW, the Sarasota County parks web pages have a trail map to download.

nice for hiking/fishing

The trails are pretty nice and shaded. Just don't go here in the rainy season, because half of the trails turn into canals. Can catch a few bass in the lake.

Great place to walk - waterway to walk along or through paths in the trees - easy to navigate and can go for a short or long walk

Nice canopied trails, you can bring your dog
Nov 2019
Several trails through the woods to the slough. You can bring your dog as long as you leave him/her on a short leash because of wildlife in the woods.

Hidden Gem in the middle of the Town

This is a really nice place for those who likes nature and can’t or doesn’t want to go out from the urbanization. We have lived next to the park for couple of months. And this was a great spot to walk. Fortunately there is only one builded path, so we could enjoy the grass. The dog walkers are respect this place. No need to worry about surprises. There are a bunch of birds to look. And it’s quite, even though the Beneva Road and Proctor have heavy traffics. We’re really appreciate this well maintained natural beauty. Thank you!

Good place for a leg stretcher

I saw a tip elsewhere advising others to take a picture of the trail map by the parking lot. That was useful advice. Although the trails in the woods are uneven and wet in spots, walking along the slough was easy as the grass is well-mowed.

Walk across town through the forest
Dec 2018
You can either park at the entrance off Beneva or at the north end of Lockwood off Clark. Either way, this preserve goes all the way to Swift and Proctor. It is a beautiful Preserve and worth the time to explore.

Scenic 2 mile walk
Dec 2018 • Couples
Was looking for a nice place to go for a walk and saw this place on Google that has good reviews.

There's a small car park as well as restrooms and a small childrens play area.

At the entrance to the paths there's a big board with information and a map (as well as some paper maps you can take with you)

We walked round nearly the whole place and did just over 2 miles in total. The map isn't that clear but you can still find your way round just fine.

Lovely mix of different scenery with plenty of wildlife and we will definitely return next time we're in the area.

just OK
Nov 2018 • Couples
as others have said, this is right in the middle of main streets and housing so you can hear the cars whizzing by as you meander. Not much to see on the day we were there - a few turtles and egrets. There are marked stakes through the preserve but we couldn't figure out their numbering system. There aren't clearly marked paths - a lot of it is walking on grass instead of a real path. Suggestion - take a photo of the map by the entrance. It will come in handy as you walk around. For us, it was just OK.
