About
For a fishing adventure in the Sarasota area that you won’t soon forget – book a charter with Captain Tony Blizzard. The Sarasota, Longboat Key, Siesta Key, Bradenton, and Venice, Florida areas offer some of the best light-tackle sportfishing on the west coast of Florida. Among the fish we can encounter are spotted seatrout, redfish, flounder, snapper, sheepshead, pompano, and Spanish mackerel. In addition, the close reefs in the Gulf of Mexico offer even more fish including grouper, snapper, sharks, porgys, sea bass, and key west grunts. Bring the family along for a fun-filled day of fishing. Saltwater fishing is fun and it's easy for everyone to learn and catch fish. Most kids love fishing in saltwater because there’s usually a lot of action, so they don’t get bored. Please let me know in advance if you’re bringing very small anglers, so I can come prepared with smaller and lighter-weight rods.

Our family, with kids aged 8 and 9, had a fantastic time fishing with Tony. He knew multiple spots in the bay to catch all different types of fish. He was patient with all of us, baiting hooks and taking off fish. Tiny is knowledgeable and friendly, the perfect host for a family fishing adventure. He even cleaned our fish for us to take home with us. Thanks for a GREAT day that our boys will be talking about for a very long while!

I had the opportunity to do a solo ride with Captain Tony on a day of building winds that kept many guides & fishermen off the water entirely. We stayed in Sarasota Bay and caught at least 10 different species of fish. While the action in other boats wasn’t hot, we were still hooking fish all day. Didn’t see any other fishermen pulling up a pompano while I caught this beauty for lunch. Great experience and a great guide who was pleasant and easy going.

Will certainly call Captain Tony for my next Sarasota trip!

We had the best time fishing with Captain Tony for our 27th Wedding Anniversary this year. The boat was spotless clean. When we got to the dock everything was ready to go. We went to several spots in Sarasota Bay that did not disappoint. The first stop we got numerous sea trout and a ladyfish. When I got bored with catching the same type of fish over and over again, Tony took us to an artificial reef where we caught grouper, Key West grunt, Spanish mackerel, a puffer fish, black bass, spot tail, a croaker, Jack, and more. All and all it was a beautiful day on the water. Captain Tony even casted for me as I was having trouble getting the line out far enough with my bad shoulder. Will definitely fish with Captain Tony again if we are ever in the Sarasota area.

Captain Tony was great! This was my kids’ (5 & 9) first saltwater fishing experience. We all caught a bunch of fish and I think they’re both hooked (bad dad joke I know). I would highly recommend Sarasota Bay Fishing Charters.

We chartered with Tony twice, once with our 10 year old grandson during the winter holidays and once with a couple of close friends early in June. Both times were great outings. Tony knows where the fish are in the bays and we brought home sheephead, trout, flounder, catfish and more each trip. His 19' boat is very nice, exceptionally clean and a nice ride on the water. His weekend rates are the best in the area for a private charter.

Perfect day out of the water. Capt. Tony took us out to the perfect fishing spot. Everyone on the boat hooked their share of fish and had such a great time! It was everything we had hoped for. Thank you, Capt. Tony!

My husband grew up in the area and loves fishing. He always wanted me to try it. I found Tony online and I am so glad we did the trip with him. I couldn't have ask for a better person to do my first fishing trip and my husband was impressed from his knowledge. He is very nice and a very experience fisher himself. Don't look further you won't find a better person to go fishing with. He offers a very reasonable price.

This morning I enjoyed a perfect fishing trip with Capt. Tony. He is a great guy who knows his stuff because he's been doing this for many, many years. It is obvious he enjoys it and works hard to make sure you have the best experience available.

We met at Thompson Park right at 8AM and set off into Sarasota bay. Capt. Tony, like I'm sure every Captain, has his private "honey holes" and put me on fish right away. I think it was the second or third cast of the morning and BOOM! "Fish On!". WOW! It just kept going and going after that. My fridge has days of trout and bluefish in it now (which he cleaned and packaged for me when we got back to the dock - no fuss, no muss).

We moved about eight times to be right on top of the fish with great success. We used several types of bait. Capt. Tony really knows what he's doing. I could tell it was important to him that I was having a good time and that made me feel great.

I've got a new friend in Capt. Tony and will surely go fishing with him next year when we come to Longboat Key. You should feel completely sure about hiring him for your trip. His prices are lower than others for some reason, I'm not sure why. It was the highest quality trip that could have been experienced and is truly worth more. It made me feel great giving him a big tip.

Capt. Tony, thanks for a great time. See you next year!

On a recent trip to Sarasota to see my niece graduate, my brother and I (both experienced fishermen) went out with another guy (another niece's boyfriend), and it was absolutely perfect. Cpt Tony was in touch and met us right on time. The temperature was nice and the wind died down earlier in the day, so bay fishing (inland style) was out - fish only hit when it's choppy. So we went out into the gulf a couple of miles, which is what I really wanted to do, anyway. We tried to hit a spot on the new bridge reef, but folks were diving on that spot, so we moved down a bit. We had some hits, but nothing serious. Cpt Tony decided that we would make a run farther out to another spot, and that was the magic call. Big brother pulled in a Key West Snapper on the first cast, and it was on! We had hits on nearly every cast, and the variety of fish was great. Snapper, grouper, puffer, porgy, etc. We pulled in easily 40 fish in a couple of hours. The grouper kept getting bigger, but we were not able to land one of proper size to keep, but we had so many snapper that we were not disappointed. Then there came a storm that we decided to avoid, and called it a day. We got back in and Cpt Tony cleaned all the fish for us, and we had one heckuva feast on fish tacos the next day. Cpt Tony was a great guide and wonderful conversationalist, full of great info to answer my many questions. It was just the perfect day on the water.
