Wow! Birds up so close you don't need binoculars

The Celery Fields are a wonderful preserve for many kinds of birds. Large & small. Song birds and raptors are all there and it is a comfortable place with boardwalks. Take your kids for an education. Go about 7:30 am to see the smaller birds and before it is too hot!

Need an escape from the flatlands? Celery Fields in Sarasota is a fun place to hike around. Thirty feet of elevation can be enough to get your heart going but you'll need quite a few laps to get a real workout. A neat side note is that a Big Cat Sanctuary is nearby so you might hear growls and roars... More

We went to the Celery Fields (the boardwalk, not the hill across the street) in early evening three times during our visit. Not as many birds the last time because it was a bit windy. But the second time was amazing. I am not the birder in the family so I can't name all the species but my favorites are... More

Love the boardwalks and opportunity to view the different birds of Florida close up! We saw so many awesome birds! Limpkins, herons, ibis, king rail, wood stork, purple gallinules and more! Also walked up and around the hill. Visited many times in a week. Tried different times of day. Mornings seemed to have more bird activity

The Audubon has two boardwalks on a restored wetlands. While some birds can be seen from both sides of the pond, there are also differences at each site. At one site we found a limpkin willing to pose for pictures (as long as you didn't get too close or reach for him), a green heron, a common moorhen, a purple... More

An easy to get to nature preserve with a boardwalk over the marsh on one side of the street and a hill maze of walks on the other. All open with views from the hill - a little unexpected in FL. A refreshing time in nature. Let's hope nothing will spoil it in the future. Lots of bird life that... More

We used this place to train for our Himalayan trek. It is a very safe location and the variety of hills were great for us. Lots of bird watchers can be found here too.

This is a great place to walk, and when you get to the top the views are excellent. I wouldn't;t call it a tourist attraction, but it's a great place.

Secret little gem for avid bird watchers. You can see the cranes and other birds preparing to make their nest. A nice walking area on a cool day. Not sure how it would be in July?
