Mangrove Tunnel Kayak Ecotour
Florida's mangrove forests form shady canals and tunnels that are ideal for kayaks, and the maneuverable craft of kayaking allows you to go where larger boats can't. This small-group tour explores the Sarasota Bay while searching for manatees and dolphins, and then goes deep into the mangroves to spot even more native plants and wildlife. With a kayak guide to lead the way, you can also learn paddling techniques that come in handy.

Pedal kayaking on Sarasota Bay
You can paddle to the mangrove tunnels from here or explore the surrounding shoreline.Manatees and dolphins are seen here regularly. Ken Thompson park has restrooms, a playground and lots of trees and picnic tables, And it has one of the best views of the city of Sarasota from across the Bay. I love to come and picnic here. You can get a great hot dog at the bait and tackle store after kayaking. The location is also called City Island Park.; it's at the very end of the road, on the Bay just past Mote Marine .ps less crowded.

Wonderful. My daughter and I loved the Mangrove Tunnel Kayak Ecotour. Larry our guide was delightful and knew much about the ecosystem of the mangroves. We saw up close dauphins, cormorants, mangrove crabs and starfish.

What a fun experience! Larry was a great source for interesting facts about the local aquatic/marine life and vegetation. He’s a retired school teacher and it was apparent, as he had an abundance of patience and encouraged everyone to have fun regardless of how well you can kayak. The littles enjoyed Larry’s leadership as well, as he offered a few critical thinking exercises, giving the kids opportunities to form hypothesis about new facts that were presented throughout the trip. I’d highly recommend to anyone, and be sure to request Larry as your guide! We saw: a pod of dolphins, crabs, sea star, waterfowl.…

I am someone who reads reviews before I check out something new in a new area and I must say that our tour did not disappoint. Our group of 10 plus all here from Chilly Philadelphia all enjoyed the tour given by Orion. My daughter who is 9 the next day said Mom that has been one of my favorite things we did here. The weather was perfect easy enough for kids to join in or just let the adult to the work. We saw some highlights a raccoon and an eagle made an appearance among other birds. Wish I could be back there now as reality has set in back here in philadelphia at 34 degrees. Thank you Orion for a great tour you were truly knowledgeable and in an area of work that you are meant to be a part of with all your know about about of the mangroves.…
