My City Sightseeing Tour was initially rescheduled due to insufficient bookings. However, Tammy was very good at maintaining prompt email contact during the rescheduling; and the new rescheduled date worked out even better. The trolley is clean, comfortable, and spacious enough for all to have a good view. Jon MacDonald is the perfect guide- warm, personable, and very knowledgeable about Sarasota. His personal story relating his tie to the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall is quite surprising. Siggi, the lively and humorous trolley conductor, has excellent skills navigating any traffic, construction, and obstacles thrown his way. Overall, the tour was fun and interesting from beginning to end; and our party of five learned so much about Sarasota. Worth every penny, don't hesitate!

Surprise!
I live in Sarasota and had never done this tour.
We had guests in town and thought it would be interesting. The Trolley was packed! We had the last 4 seats.
A very knowledgeable and articulate tour guide, Steven Siggi, gave a detailed history of Sarasota and various leaders who started our wonderful city!! He was funny also!!

Kathryn did an exceptional portrayal of Rose Wilson who ran the Sarasota Times Newspaper. We were given interesting stories of the Fields, Higel, Palmer, Honore and other Sarasota families that developed Sarasota. If you have even lived here for years you will be told stories by Kathryn that are fascinating. Kathryn makes you feel she is the person she is portraying. We thought we knew Sarasota but will be doing more Discover tours.

We loved the tours in the depot and the train museum. fascinating! The trolley tour itself seemed pointless…as Venice residents we noted that the trolley went around in circles, and there were virtually no references to any of the historical landmarks in town. The commentary given by Mrs. Albee had no correlation with the locations we passed in the city. In addition, while we were happy to contribute to a good cause, the $50 price tag seemed excessive, especially since the tour ended 1/2 hour early. It was apparent that Mrs. Albee was not familiar with the city, although her stories were interesting. This needs more work. We had 7 visitors from out of town, and frankly we felt terrible that they each paid $50 for the tour. We love Venice, and hope that you can refine and improve this your successfully.

Thank you for your comments. I wish you had been on the afternoon instead. The morning tour was not our best. We had a new driver who got lost and that’s why I jumped up to give him directions. After the tour he went and drove it so the afternoon tour went well covering all intended historic sites. Please come on another tour as my guest- just email info@discoversarasotatours.com

Steve, a native of Sarasota and consummate actor, did a superb job summarizing the historic sites and characters of this fascinating city. He did a great job describing Sarasota through humor and detail. I thought I knew Sarasota well, but he really added to my knowledge!

We took the City Tour with John as our driver and Patrick as our guide. Patrick was full of information and told his stories in a fun and entertaining way. He made us laugh as well as informed us of many details of Sarasota and surrounding areas. John effortlessly made his way through the busy streets. We learned about the history of the city, places to visit and eat. The entire tour was well put together and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in learning more about Sarasota.

My husband and I did the Will Rogers Tour last night. From start to finish it was thoroughly entertaining. Steve McAllister did an amazing job bringing to life the humorist and writer, Will Rogers. He was able to share many anecdotes that were as relevant today as in the 1920’s about politics, human nature, wealth and kindness. In between his well-woven stories he shared some entertaining songs and details about some historical landmarks in Sarasota. If this is the kind of talent offered by Discover Sarasota Tours, I look forward to taking many more! (My only suggestions is that the Trolley needs cup holders).

I highly recommend the City Sightseeing tour by Sarasota Tours & narrator Jon MacDonald. This man is a wealth of knowledge, entertaining & funny… a true ambassador for the Sarasota community. The tour was worth every penny & then some… you will not be disappointed!

As first time visitors to Sarasota we found this was a delightful and entertaining way to learn about the city and its history. Definitely worth the time and effort! Our tour guide Pat was a very knowledgeable and interesting story teller who had many tales and anecdotes about the people who founded the city and the storied lives they led. Very nice and thoughtful people throughout the whole experience.

Well worth it, believe me!! The tour was fun, informative and comfortable. I am a full time resident here and I treated my Dad (from NYC) to this tour during the post-Thanksgiving weekend. It was a joy! The driver was extremely competent and the tour guide was exceptionally livelyb and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this and other similar tours!!

The daytime tours are $35 plus tax and handling fee. The nightime tours are $45 plus tax and handling and include free wine or beer. All info is on our website-
