We enjoyed our second trip with Fun Boat Tours, our last trip with them being in 2019. Captain Keith and First Mate Jenna are top notch and do their best to make your experience as good as can be,,plenty of dolphins were seen on our sunset cruise last night and the waters around Sarasota are very calm...beautiful sunset as well..one thing that changed since our last trip was that Sand Dollar Island is no longer there and was a victim of nearby dredging which Jenna explained to us had changed the current flow and swallowed up this wonderful bit of heaven which my wife and I were so fond of...the boats would pull up there and you could disembark and collect shells to take home...we highly recommend Fun Boat Tours for your next adventure!

Loved our sunset cruise with Fun Boat Tours. Our crew had us laughing and enjoying the Florida waters while telling us joke and facts about the birds of the surrounding area. Once the sunset commenced we then had a fun time singing karaoke and making friends with everyone on the boat. If you’re looking for a fun night out, I totally suggest the sunset cruise.

A group of 6 of us recently took the sunset cruise in late January from Siesta Key. We had a fantastic time! Captain Matt Reid and Mateo did an amazing job a along the 2 and a 1/2 hour journey. They had cold beers and wine, a bathroom onboard and provided great service. We were really lucky to see tons of dolphins along the way and stop to take videos/photos of them playing the water. The crew kept us entertained with funny anecdotes, local information and great music. Though it was cloudy, they found the perfect spot to grab some sunset pictures before heading back. I would 100% recommend this tour to anyone looking to enjoy a cruise on the intercoastal!

We booked this 2 hour cruise for some dolphin viewing as well as a leisurely cruise with our family but we’re all left disappointed. Captain Matt along with Destiny and Jason I believe were on the tour with us.
Too begin it was all good and fine until we left the harbor. Once we left the music was cranked up so loud it was hard for myself and my wife to have a private conversation without raising our voices. Then the drinks started flowing freely. Drinks were only a few options. Budweiser, Yuengling, Yuengling Light, some cheap white wines and water for those who didn’t want a drink at all. Maybe a cola and a white soda would be a good alternative for this who didn’t want a drink. Also could tell they must switch up the drinks throughout the day as there were like 2 Miller Lites and one Michelob Ultra which was complete random. Why not pick 3 or 4 beers and keep this in stock?

Moving on it was up to the passengers to spot the dolphins for which the passengers would yell then the captain would stop for a minute or so then proceed on. Maybe that’s customary but it seemed they just cruised out and jammed to music and didn’t care if they saw any dolphins at all. We did see a total of 4 dolphins on our cruise so technically it was a dolphin cruise. Also at one point we were motoring along and a person yelled dolphin at which point Destiny yelled, “We got another dolphin cryer!” I felt that was a bit unprofessional as we were the ones paying $100’s of dollars to come out and see them. Yes it may be common occurrences for them but for my children and myself it was supposed to be a fun experience and shouldn’t be felt like we are annoying the crew to stop and see them in their wild habitat.
I would say Capt. Matt was very knowledgeable about the birds while passing the wild bird rookery and knew a lot about them.
Carrying on with the cruise the music selection was completely random off of their phones. For instance we heard Journeys, Don’t stop believn’ once then only to start playing again after the next song only to have it stopped and a different song put on. Heard Zac Brown Band “Chicken Fried” twice then a few more Zac Brown songs. Then while Destiny was pointing out owners of homes on the waterfront they pointed out the CEO or creator of Solo cups which was followed up immediately my Toby Keith’s “Red Solo Cup” seemed kinda cheeky to me. Then they pointed out other people’s homes which was ok that’s great, let’s find some dolphins for my kids.
In the end my kids were disappointed as they didn’t see any manatees and only a glimpse of a few dolphin fins surfacing when they did catch them. I wish we didn’t shell out so much money for this tour and would have read more realistic reviews from people.

The trip out was great—seeing native birds, dolphins, estates and the sunset was spectacular. The timing of the cruise highlights was perfect. I do want to mention that the trip back was not at all family friendly or enjoyable. Several people were very drunk and dancing in manners and acting in ways that made us and probably others very uncomfortable. The crew passed out beer and wine nonstop- strongly encouraged drinking. When we got on board one of the first questions they asked was who could get drunk first. The point of the cruise should have been focused on the beauty of the gulf and the sunset- not on drinking to the point of intoxication. I don’t think it’s safe or appropriate to give out that much wine and alcohol to the point of intoxication. It spoiled the return trip and did not keep the passengers safe-this could be a huge liability. This is poor business. I would call this outing party boats instead of fun boats. I would also note that it should be advertised only for adults and those over 21. I would not call this a romantic trip. I was very disappointed.

On the evening of March 4th, I attended the Sunset cruise with my wife, daughter and son in law. The trip was great fun until their inexperienced driver went directly into pole # 65 (see pictures below) going at an estimated 7-10 knots. We were on the bow, standing along with the music and revelry of the "Fun" boat. We were very fortunate to have had one of the young ladies next to us spot the oncoming pole so I was able to tell my family to quickly "get down".

My wife injured her jaw, and has a badly bruised leg and chest due to the blunt force against the bow railing. She also bit her tongue and had blood coming from her mouth. I wrote to Fun Boat for at least an apology and omission of guilt before deciding to write this review.

I'm surprised and very disappointed that no one at Fun Boats has reached out to any of us to check on our welfare, offered an apology, or offered any refund or discount for the unfortunate incident. The new boat captain admitted to only recently securing his Captain's license. The main Captain in charge was busy soliciting song requests and trusting all of our lives to an inexperienced driver in the dark while most of us were standing on the bow. Clearly he did not properly utilize his navigation equipment and no one asked us to sit so he could see where he was going.

So be wary of booking a trip with this outfit if safety and taking accountability for an accident is a concern of yours.

We took the sunset/ dolphin cruise. Our captain landed on a sandbar in the middle of the Intercoastal so we could take pictures of the sunset! We were able to see some dolphins feeding. The wine and beer was a nice bonus. We thought the crew was very knowledgeable about the area, wildlife, and celebrity homes that we passed. We enjoyed the 2 hour excursion immensely and would highly recommend it if you’re staying in the area!

My family went on the sunset cruise last weekend and it was absolutely beautiful. The staff are so friendly and accommodating to you. We saw dolphins, went to a sand bar and watched the sunset. Back on the boat we did karaoke which was so fun and saw the beautiful houses pass by. We absolutely love it and would definitely recommend to anyone who loves the ocean, sunsets, music and wildlife.

I did the 1pm dolphin and drinks. It was 2hours long unfortunately we only saw 1 dolphin but still enjoyable. The tour guides on the boat were very knowledgeable about the area. They were also very hospitable making sure everyone was comfortable and had a drink when needed. There was lots of ability to walk to the top of the boat and look out or stay in the shaded center. Got a little wet as some waves splashed up and sprinkled the boat but nothing crazy.

Matt the captain is a real local, very knowledgeable and shares this in a nice way.
His mate, a girl (forgot her name) also did a good job taking care of the bar (water, white wine and various brands of beer), all nicely cooled.
We saw dolphins, probably about a dozen.
White pelicans (who come south from up to Canada). Normal grey pelicans, herons, egrets and cormorans.
We were about 18 which was great space wise, the morning tour had 33 people…
We really enjoyed the tour and we can certainly recommend !
