Sarasota Opera continues to distinguish itself as one of the opera opera companies in the world. Season after season, Sarasota Opera presents world-class musicians and performances in the striking 1,119 seat Mediterranean style Sarasota Opera house. The fall season consists of one opera performed in October-November followed by the four opera Winter Opera Festival that runs all of February and March. Each season brings a mixture of classic favorites and rarely heard gems. All performances have simultaneous English translations above the stage and opera goers are encouraged to dress as they feel comfortable: suits and ties mix with khaki and jeans. Tickets start at only $19!! Come and experience the magic that is Sarasota Opera!

Most people don't give Sarasota enough credit for our culture. It is a great vacation destination but bring your formal wear and enjoy the local cultural offerings.

I try to catch at least one opera every year, and have never been disappointed. Beautiful opera house and wonderful performances. A real treat!

I went to the Opera for the first time last season and so thoroughly enjoyed it. But it takes planning to be sure you get good seats.

Last week we attended Sarasota Opera's Rigoletto. We bought our tickets serveral weeks in advance and paid $19 each. Our seats were in the last row of the balcony, but had no problem seeing everything. It was a great cultural experience.

What can I say? The costumes the sets and the talent are exceptional. We have season's tickets and would not miss a performance. They also have backstage visits that are very interesting. Sarasota is very lucky to have this venue and talent!

High quality opera but as we only visit Sarasota twice a year we have only managed to get to see one Opera in 9 years.

I don't perceive the first row seats being too close to stage. That having been said, sitting on the first row is a matter of preference. There are some people who only want to sit in the first row, and some people, like me... More

Hello - I work for Sarasota Opera and can answer your question. A good opera for a 14 year old would be "La boheme" which the opera company will be performing this fall (October 30th - November 17th). I would suggest looking... More
